Were Lee and Ramirez even watching before their at bats? He's throwing a slider that bites out of the zone when you have two strikes you dolts, pay attention.

There was the time where being aggressive at the plate would've been a good thing. He gave Lee and Ramirez one chance to hit a straight fastball and they took it and both went chasing after sliders.

That is one thing I have noticed about Cubs hitters: they take the meatballs and flail at the crap. Also, they seem bewildered by outside pitches.

I wish I could hear Len and Bob REALLY speak their mind on this team..Like what they talk about as soon as the games is off the air..Im sure there many, many profanities.

They probably talk about how they never truly understood why this franchise was 100 years a loser, until they started following them every day.

maybe it's just me, but I think Terrmel Sledge sort of looks like this guy:

Brenly basically said it is impossible for a major league hitter not to be able to make contact, unless of course he is swinging for the fences.

Steve Stone on the Score today made the point about prospects in the Cubs system not being taught the basics. It was in response to a quote by Piniella. But the thing is, the everyday players on this team for the most part did not come from this system. Why do they continue to fail in these situations? OK, I guess you can insert the obligatory bash Hendry answer here.

Problem with the Cubs has been that they're historically a "take what the pitcher gives us" offense. Forget about them showing enough discipline and selectiveness to force a good pitcher into making mistakes and them capitalizing on it. They're strictly at the mercy of the pitcher's margin of error - and if that margin is less than wide, it's gonna be a long night.

Good work, Marquis.

We'll waste these good performances, then later in the year he'll be giving up more runs and we'll be wishing we hadn't. It's pretty much 100% certain that's how it will go down.

Steve Stone is a very smart man. That and Jim Hendry is a complete idiot.

Brenly's letting it fly now.

Really wish I could hear what he has to say about this worthless team. Stupid cable company not carrying CSN....at the home of the Iowa Cubs, no less.

The problem is Jim Hendry put together a team filled with a bunch of hackers.

Said it was impossible not to be able to make contact, if you are major league hitter.

Steve Stone is the reason we choked down the stretch in 2004. Just ask Dusty Baker and Kent Mercker.

I'm not going to use what's his name, but you don't have to teach "toolsy" players the basics.
