Look, I want Murton to play as much as anyone, but he's really doing his best to argue his way out of his starts. I know he's young, but come on...how does someone regress THAT much?

where were you when Murton was 2-3 with a walk yesterday? give me a break

I know he's had a few games this year, but he's had a bunch of really crappy starts, and he seems completey useless coming off the bench.[/quote

He actually has been better pinch-hitting than anything: 3 for 11 with 1 BB, .272/.333/.636

All his other at-bats .284/.341/.333

That 3-run homer all of a sudden made his pinch hitting #'s look good.

The same way Dempster's 9th in New York made his ERA look bad. It's too early to draw any conclusions with average based stats.

Marquis with the ND, gotta love being in the Cubs rotation baby.

Wins for pitchers are highly over rated IMO, as long as the team wins I don't care which pitcher gets credit for it and neither should they.

Why must this be debated every time its mentioned. He got the ND for a game it would be nice to have gotten him a win for, simple as that.

I don't think it has to be debated. It's common sense that wins are a team stat, and that starting pitchers only have a fraction of the control over them.

It's the most overrated stat in the game.

And no has said to the contrary. Why must it be mentioned every time?

I think it's like a defense mechanism, people are so sick of the misconception about wins as a stat, they attack it whenever possible.

It is a overrated stat that means nothing. You could be a great pitcher for the Nationals or some other offensivley plagued team, and lose because your team can't put a run or two on the board. The pitcher has only like 25 percent control over it. As long as they have the sparkling ERA, thats all that matters.

Demp is on it tonight.

As he has been the vast majority of the time.

Maybe what some posters here have been saying is right. Demp needs to consistently to pitch good.

what?

Demp needs to consistently pitch to be good. Him taking a string of days off isn't productive for him.

A little late but...

CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

Ahh, if only this was mentioned as much as wins are overrated are.

Seriously though, well not that serious, I'm holding on to this uber-optimistic thread that the Cubs just get hot in June and take the division lead in a 2 week stretch of awesomeness.

I think it is worth mentioning that Ryan has a 0.97 WHIP, 2.65/1 k/bb, 8.86 k/9 and .176 BAA after tonight to go with his 91% save percentage.

Some how we're alone in 2nd place. The NL Central is terrible.

The main reason any concession of the season is ridiculous. We're gonna be in this thing the whole way, whether it's deserved or not.

Yea, so at least it makes me have a glimmer of hope that my tickets in july will be more useful than any i had last july....man it's nice to be goin home for summer and have not team that is less than 5 games under .500
