Right now you have got to keep Pagan in center. I don't care how long jacque sits on the bench and gets pissed. Jacque or Murton is traded sometime this season I'm pretty sure. I'm hoping it is Jacque

Against LHP? Of course.

Against RHP? Uh, no.

But I really like Angel, he seems to genuinely care about the teams W-L.

Apparently he didn't care much about Iowa's record

Yeah, I don't think Pagan is realistically projectable as anything more than a platoon player. If he can team with Jones to give us decent production in CF then he is worth a roster spot.

Pagan is OK as a fifth outfielder. He's shown in the majors that he can play acceptable defense, has good speed, and has at least some power. He can play all the outfield positions and as long as he's used against LHP (his OPS is .753 vs. LHP not great but respectable), he can be a valuable player. Dusty played him too much last season. Let's hope Lou will use him in the way that maximizes his value, as a late inning defensive replacement and a PH vs. LHP.

It's not ideal, but for now, the team is better off starting Angel in CF vs. LHP. Jones should never start against LHP as long as there's someone, anyone right handed that can play his position on the bench.

He is showing that he could be a decent 4th OF instead of a 5th. He could have a decent career in the Jay Payton/Mark Kotsay mold.

He's only had 23 AB in the majors this year, his career stats (as well as his numbers this year at AAA) scream 5th outfielder.

Count me out for this thread.

I do not, never have, and never will have any appreciation for Angel Pagan.

Why? He's been fine since he's came back. Just to use him in proper situations is the key to maintaining his effectiveness.

Even Neifi hit an awesome slam against the Cards. Did I hate Neifi? yeah. Did I hate him there? No, I was jumping around happy as hell like everybody else.

Yeah, but for me, I think most of it was laughter over the humiliation the Cardinals must feel for giving up a game-winning grand slam to Neifi Perez.

Still makes me laugh...

eh

I'm satisfied with how he hits lefties. I don't ever want him to start, and I don't want him to take at-bats away from Murton, or even nearly anyone else on the roster, for that matter.

It's hard to get a good read on whether or not he hits lefties better than righties. He hit lefties better in the big leagues last year (.753 OPS vs. a .596 OPS against righties), but in his last full season in the minors, his OPS against righties was over 60 points higher (.682 OPS vs. .744).

But he's not really a platoon partner, anyways, considering his lack of OBP and power. If you're going to use him, it would probably be as a late-inning defensive replacement.

Actually that's backwards. He hit for a .753 OPS against right-handers, and a .596 OPS against left-handers. He hasn't shown an ability to hit right-handed until this year, both in the minors and majors. It will be interesting to see if that lasts or not.

I like angel... I just kinda cringed when hendry said he had "beltran" like skill sets.

They do have similar skill sets, but Beltran is just way, way better in each of those skills.

Use him until he regresses back to his norm.

Then execute him as an example to the others.

Or they could give him two turns as the 5th starter and then a week at closer to see if he can handle other jobs.

"Hi, I'm Jim Hendry. Have you considered a career in management?"
