We should put Aramis on the bench so we have a really good pinch hitter.

Not. Even. Close.

That's what I was thinking. It's not like Guzman has proven himself to being a great pitcher who can avoid injuries.

If they were moving Lilly or someone like that to the pen, I could understand the analogy a bit better, but even then, it's not close.

Do more periods constitute more emphasis? I don't understand this style.

Yes. It. Does.

I'm hoping to see someone else get demoted or called up just to see the title of this thread get longer. :)

How about adding something like: Eyre DFA

its an attempt to convey tone of voice in print. Short, staccato, emphasized words. Possibly condescending tone.

Not. That. New.

I understand what it's attempting to do. I just don't understand it's use b/c it doesn't seem that effective. When you read "Not. Even. Close." is it really any more persuasive or emphatic than "not even close."

And by "not that new" I assume you mean, "totally overused" b/c what's his name that got canned at espn.com (Daily Quickie writer) beat it to death and others seem to have adopted it after having seen it there.

He's just joining the team so they can check him out, he's not being removed from the disabled list.

Didn't he already rejoin the team to be checked out? I thought he joined the team in NY.

Yes. He did his side session in front of Lou at Shea.

Thanks, I thought I was going nuts.

Hopefully they aren't even thinking of activating him, and this is just the next step in either releasing him or trading him.

I bet something happens on the Miller front (trade, release, promotion) after they've seen Marshall throw a couple of starts.

You wish.

Worst case scenario is obvious case scenario with the Cubs.

I initially didn't put promotion in the list of possibilities for Miller, but after thinking about it again, figured it should be in there. You're probably right. I hope you're wrong.
