Considering this topic has come up recently and has been nearly beaten to death in certain respects, there is one thing I am curious about with regards to booing.

How do you feel about booing an umpire/referee/official?

I say go for it. Booing players for poor performance is dumb because the home stadium is supposed to be a positive environment. No need for such precautions with umpires. Plus, makeup calls are a very real thing.

I'm fond of the "HEY BLUE, YOU WATCHIN' THE SAME GAME? TERRIBLE CALL!" myself.

Ooh, try this one -- "Hey blue, you're missing a good game" -- it kills every time.

My personal favorite:

"BEND OVER AND WATCH THE GAME WITH YOUR GOOD EYE!"

I save my best wit for the baseball games at school here. You could write a book, I tells ya. :)

I was a fan of the guy in whatever section it was on Monday (504?) that kept screaming at blue about how he could call the game better after every call against the Cubs. Finally someone pointed out to him that he was wrong about everything he was saying and should refer to the monitor before opening his mouth.

I laughed.

"Yes, in the U.S. we always believe we know better than the umpire."

Awesome.

Maybe OT, but I personally love the people that post about players not giving 100% and not earning their money while they are the one posting at work at a time that is not lunch or a break.

My favorite (may be inappropriate): GET OFF YOUR KNEES UMP YOU'RE BLOWING THE GAME!

THis is more for basketball/football, but:

"I'm Blind, I'm Deaf, I wanna be a ref!"

Always makes me laugh.

"1-2-3. Shoot that referee!"

My thing is sarcastically pointing out the obvious.

Examples: "Hey, when the ball goes over that white thing it's called a strike!" "Where I come from, when a player is on the base before the tag, he's safe!"

Seriously, what is wrong with booing the umps? They are pros. When they blow a call, they should hear about it.

And I don't buy that Pollyanna "don't boo your own players" crap. I hear way too much of that from the Best Fans in Baseball (yeah, okay) here in St. Louis. You play poorly, you don't hustle, you choke in a big spot, you deserve to get booed.

I'm usually pretty sarcastic when I heckle refs/umps. For example, when an ump calls a strike at someones eyes, if there is a ball WAY outside (like..passed ball, wild pitch) within the next inning i'll throw out a "What's the matter, blue? Wasnt that a strike too?"

However, most of the time I just go with a good old fashioned "What the , Blue!".....

..That one got some airtime on opening day...
