I'm telling you, if you caned Izturis right now, he would think twice about swinging at the first pitch in his next at bat. Sometimes you have to resort to drastic measures to eliminate tendencies from people.

Although Joe Carter was generally unlistenable as an announcer he used to always go on about how crazy it was to go after the first pitch in that situation, given that you have the pitcher in trouble.

 

Add in the fact that the Cubs are down, Harang's pitch count is up, and Cesar is not a guy who can do much with it anyway, and it is criminally stupid

Dribbler in front of the plate which Z barehanded and made an awkward throw on. Doesn't seem like it hurt him.

 

Someone should give Z a glove for his right hand too so he doesn't barehand those.

Actually, it was a play he pretty much had to barehand. The throw was what concerned everyone.

It wasn't Z barehanding the ball, it was the awkward throw that caused O'Neal to come out.
