I wonder if this had something to do with their performance:

Before Monday’s season opener against the Cincinnati Reds, the Cubs held a lengthy pregame meeting, during which general manager Jim Hendry told players and coaches that nothing had changed as far as their jobs on the field.

didn't want to start a new thread, but if anybody wants to laugh/torture themselves Dusty is calling the Twins/Orioles game on ESPN2 right now.

What a bad game all around. Lone bright spot is Cotts, Weurtz, Ohman didn't give up runs.

Cotts looks pretty good. maybe he will work out afterall. Yeah I know. small sample.

Carlos showed some real solid control today. Im sorry, but a staff ace does not walk five batter's in a game. I know it was his first start of the year, but he need to learn how to control his pitches. Pretty pathetic outing by Carlos today.

I just finished watching the game on DVR. Harang pitched a damn good ball game. He pitched ahead all game. There were only a few real bad ABs (Murton's K, and some of Izturis's, but that is to be expected). Overall, not a bad start to the season.

I'm disapointed but I saw some bright spots too.

Something awkward about this game.. I took my mom to the grocery store and she was taking long.. So I decided to read Moneyball while she was in there.. so I missed the beginning of the game.. at 1:10 though, I stumbled over the words "Alfonso Soriano deoesnt." It was scary.

Carlos showed very little control but, to be fair, the ump had a very small zone.

Didn't seem to affect Harang at all.

I guess the ump needs glasses.
