Wow, I'd almost forgotten Ordonez. The Cubs have really had some crappy players in recent history. There's Macias, Ojeda, Bynum, Lenny Harris, Mabry, Ordonez, Womack, Neifi, Rusch, Estes, the list goes on and on...

I have to break out that picture during every fantasy.

Fixed. Sorry, had to do it. :D

Let's see, you took my words out of context and now they'll probably come back to haunt me. I feel like a politician.

it's funny how guys like this just keep hanging around. At the Blue Jays/Red Sox spring training game yesterday, the Sox sent Kerry Robinson out to play CF. It took me a minute to figure out he used to start for the Cardinals.

Why is it Rnez, shouldn't it be Rdnez?

No o, no d.

Ahhh ok, so he used to be Rey Rdnez early in his career, but by the time he played for us he had become Rey Rnez.

I was checking out his stats on Baseball Reference and it seems he was top ten in Intentional Walks three times in his career! I assume he was batting 8th and they walked him to face the pitcher, but it still blows my mind.

If this isn't an indictment of baseball convention wisdom I don't know what is.

They got him mixed up with Rey Sanchez.....And you do NOT want to be facing him with the game on the line.

And it looks like Rey Rnez has made the team.

Link.

And the Mariners now appear ready to reward the 36-year-old infielder, out of baseball since 2004, with a spot on their opening day roster. The transformation of Ordonez, from a no-hope curiosity at the outset of camp to a guy looking like the team's backup infielder, took a giant step forward Wednesday when backup outfielder Jeremy Reed was optioned to Class AAA Tacoma.
