his choice was USC. The good news is that if my swimming at HC didn't use up my eligibility, I might try to walk on at Penn State to play RB in 2008.

so they now have, what, 6 running backs? ludicrous. at least 2 of those guys will transfer in the next 2 years

yeah, well I guess we can keep recruiting them while they're at USC. I still like our incoming class but RB depth is a real big concern.

yep. has to be the #1 focus for next year's class. Or, as you said, they need to get someone to transfer here. Don't know what the rules are about contacting players already in college about coming to your school.

It sounds like George White, MLB from Flint (MI) Carman-Ainsworth HS is forgoing his commitment to Michigan State and is instead signing with Mizzou. According to Rivals he's the 24th best inside linebacker in the nation and the 17th best overall player in Michigan. Very nice job on this one Pinkel.

yesyesyesyesyes

Our linebacking corps blow, thank you George. On the other hand, reading MSU's board they're saying he projected to be a D-Lineman, which we already have in spades.

2007:

Joe McKnight

Broderick Green

Marc Tyler

2006:

Stafon Johnson

CJ Gable (they expected him to play defense, now he's starting at RB)

Stanley Havili (now at FB)

Emmanuel Moody

Allen Bradford (recruited as a safety, starting at FB)

2003:

Chauncey Washington (same class as Reggie Bush and LenDale White, now a senior)

Apparently Pom Pom believes RBs are some of the best athletes and he can plug them at other holes when they don't make it at RB. I'm sure those that don't make it will end up transferring.

Yeah and I'm sure he can, but I'm also guessing that almost all of these guys were amazing RBs in high school and were heavily recruited as RBs. These aren't generic two-star players who don't have a future at RB and are forced to switch, these are guys who could start for most teams in the country. They aren't going to want to switch off of RB without a chance to prove themselves first.

I guess we can also hope that the Reggie Bush case results in USC getting the death penalty from the NCAA

Yeah, all those guys I listed were 4 or 5-star guys and then they still switch highly regarded defensive players to RB/FB. What was strange last year was that CJ Gable was a 5-star RB who was willing to play defense at USC as long as he had a shot at the starting RB spot - he had other chances to play RB with no strings attached.

any update on Noel Devine.

I don't follow recuriting that much, but I have seen vids of this kid...wow.

Sounds like he hasn't signed yet...was a WVU lean

i thought the big news with Devine was that he wasn't going to sign anywhere

Sorry for the little OT (especially ND OT) but they were interviewing one of the recruits who signed today, Kerry Neal, and he said "I'll be looking forward to playing in ND's new 3-4 defense, and I guess I'll be one of those DE/OLB types"-I didn't even know the team had switched defenses like that! I guess some news just flies on by-I was just surprised.

Oh and you might be surprised to know that his father is your new boss.

National Signing Day was great for the Vols!

We picked up 4 star WR Ahmad Paige out of Louisiana and 4 star DE Rae Sykes from Alcoa, TN (I got to watch this kid play and he's pretty impressive).

Plus we didn't lose any of our initial commitments so we're pretty much guaranteed a top 2-3 recruiting class and perhaps number one.

Rivals.com has you at #3 behind Florida and USC

We've been floating between 2 and 3 for a while now and that was before Paige and Sykes signed. I doubt we move up to 1 but I'd be absolutely shocked if we dropped below 3rd.

Of course, as I say that ESPN rates us as the sixth class, but I put much more stock in Rivals and Scout.

Corwin Brown, the new defensive coordinator, said in his introductory presser that he loves the 3-4. Fine by me as our defensive line was pretty much gone after this season, although it supposedly cost us Trattou.

It's an interesting situation. He was a WVU lean, and it seems his coach was ready to get all the accolades if Devine was going there, and then Deion Sanders stepped in at the last second and told him to sit down, take a deep breath and reconsider. Devine may take an official to FSU in the near future, and will hopefully sign with FSU.

That said, it's where my bias ends as an FSU fan. I think Devine needs to go to prep school and get his crap together, and then sign next year. He seems a bit too immature at this stage, and I don't want to see another kid screw up his life, no matter where he signs.
