tkenm356: Tau Kappa Epsilon - Nu Mu Chapter?

I was Tau Kappa Epsilon - Nu Kappa Chapter

I think Newhan is a pretty pointless idea. We have the following guys competing for outfield spots at Iowa: Angel Pagan (shouldn't start in the majors), Eric Patterson (probably CF), Felix Pie (could start in the majors), Chris Walker (might be back at AA), Buck Coats, Jorge Cortes (maybe AA or release), maybe Scott Moore (as a corner outfielder - he's blocked by DLee and ARam). We only need 4 outfielders in AAA.

I can't think he's a better option than Theriot getting some outfield at-bats or Jacque playing full-time in center.

I have never heard of this gentleman and I'm surprised no one has put his stats out there yet. Are they really that bad?

He's a 33 year old OF with 1 season where he had an ops over .696 (a pretty solid 2004). The last 2 years (while, mind you, playing OF) he was neifi-bad with the bat. They're ugly.

i assumed Newhan was a reporter I never heard of. . . .I assumed it was a mystery player (to be revealed in the thread) that we had a good chance of getting.

He sounds like Russ Gload.

David Newhan.

In six seasons, he has a career line of 256/315/386.

His best season was 311/361/453 at age 30 in 2004.

He followed that in 2005 by hitting 202/279/312.

He's a blah player that should be playing AAA somewhere.

In his "compare stats" it lists Trinidad "the kid" Hubbard.

I'm surprised at the amount of people who are saying they don't know who he is. Not that he's a star or anything near that, but you don't see people stating that they don't know something too often on here.

I know who he is, and he sucks. I hope the Cubs don't have any interest in him.

I still don't know who he is and this story has been out for a while.

Wasn't there an episode on MASH with a similar theme?

You're the 3rd person in this thread to say that.

New Jersey Star Ledger[/url]"] The Mets were close to reaching an agreement last night with David Newhan, according to a National League official who did not want to be named because the deal has not been announced. The utility player, who can play either the outfield or the infield, spent the past three seasons with the Baltimore Orioles who did not tender him a contract.

Newhan, 33, was apparently ready to pass up an offer from the Chicago Cubs to sign with the NL East champs. The Mets bolstered their bench with the additions of infielder Damion Easley and Ben Johnson earlier in the off-season.

Big sigh of relief.
