I really doubt they'll move it to Sunday night, because by the time the game would be played, it could be completely meaningless.

With the Philly win tonight, my guess would be Philadelphia/Atlanta, since that game has meaning no matter what happens earlier in the day.

Except for the fact that if Dallas lost, that game would also be meaningless.

Wow this has really screwed plans me and my friends had for New Years. Wow. Looks like there's gonna have to be some rescheduling done.

Sucks to be you!

LOL, j/k... I'll be glad to take those damn tickets off your hands so you can go out and party, though.

Let's go Packers!

Could bare the fact that you were a Sox fan, but a Packers fan too? That's 2 strikes....I'll be watching closely for the third ;)

I hear he's a Knicks fan ;)

He also likes the Illini. What an evil trio.

HEY NOW!

Come on Packer fans...you guys haven't beaten a winning team all year, do you really want to go the playoffs? Lame.

If our Bears really cared I wouldn't really worry about this game, but the way the defense is playing so lackadasically who knows what could happen.

Lets hope the Bears hang 40 on them and its a long night of Madden jerking off to Favre. *sigh*

David Haughhas an article about how Ron Rivera may go somewhere else as a head coach next year, and how he might begin being recruited as soon as as the first wave of head coaches are cut loose, which could be as soon as Monday. I hope that's not a distraction, though I doubt it would be.

Linebackers coach Bob Babich, a Smith ally longer than any other Bears assistant, would emerge as the favorite to replace Rivera.

Heh....another good blurb from that column:

Get me rewrite. Sunday's initial game story filed by the Associated Press contained the following sentence: "Smith looked as if he was playing to win by benching an ineffective [Rex] Grossman." For an out-of-town writer seeing the Bears for only the second time this season, perhaps that's an understandable conclusion to jump to hastily. But anybody following the Bears regularly who read more into the Brian Griese-for-Grossman substitution in the fourth quarter missed the point entirely or simply craves controversy. Smith is contemplating benching Grossman after he has thrown 111 straight passes without an interception? Really? Griese had more to prove in the fourth quarter after not taking a snap since Oct. 29 than Grossman did in the context of the next month, as Smith and every other football guy watching realized.

I wonder how much of the defense's success if Lovie's system, and how much is Rivera's.

This time change really pisses me off.

Putting a crimp in your New Years Eve plans?

Significantly. I caved and agreed to go to one of those buy your tickets early events at a local bar, because a lot of friends are coming in from out of town and didn't want to do a house party. I'm not a big fan of these things, but can deal with it since it's top shelf booze. But it's from 9-2 and there's no guarantee the game will even be on TV there. So it's either show up late and waste a large amount of the "free" booze, or spend all week trying to convince some prissy restaurant/lounge manager to have the game on TV.

Rivera's entire coaching history is based off a blitz happy system in Philly under Johnson. The whole Tampa-2, cover-2 whatever you want to call it is based of 4 guys creating the pressure and few blitzes. Plus, when they do blitz, it's rarely effective. I think Rivera is more of a caretaker for Lovie's defense than anything else.

Exactly. The NFL just screwed up the NYE plans of about 55,000 people at the game too who probably bought tickets and now have to sell their Bears tickets on EBay.

If we weren't playing the Packers, I'd bet that the secondary market right before the game would be very beneficial for those that really want to goto a Bears game.

I thought the NFL was required to announce these changes like 2 weeks in advance? Just to avoid situations like this one, when its really unnecessary.

I thought the same.

EDIT: Exception to the rule

In Week 17, in order to ensure a Sunday night game with playoff implications, the decision to move the start time may be made on six days notice.

Yeah, of course I do. None of the 7-8 teams "really" deserve it, but I could not care less. You're telling me that the Giants deserve it? They have been one of the worst teams in the league the last month or so. The Falcons? Once again, another underachiever. The Panthers? That team should've been a Super Bowl contender before injuries caught up with them, and now they have Chris WEINKE as QB. The Rams? They let Noah Herron rush for over 100 yards when we played them. Enough said about them.

Of course we don't necessarily deserve to make the playoffs. We were 1-4 and 4-8 in different parts of the season. But if we were able to make it, you would find no complaining from me

Please please please make it to the second round so the Bears can smack Favre around for the 3rd time in the year...that would be special. :)

EDIT: Nevermind, you'd have to beat the Bears to get in, and I just can't root for that.

As am I. Besides, it probably won't have any playoff implications, nor will it be Favre's last game.

Madden is doing the game. I'm gonna vomit, not from drinking, but from the onslaught of Brett Favre man-love coming from the senile mouth of John Madden.

This actually works pretty good for me. I can usually only see Bears games at a Sunday Ticket location, which also means drinks. Now, I can watch the game at home while the wife takes 2-3 hours to get ready to go out for New Year's Eve, which coincidentally also happens to be my birthday.

For my birthday, I would like a Chicago Bears win and no injuries please.

Thanks for finding that, I'm lazy. That's still pretty crappy for all the ticketholders. I'm annoyed about it and I'm not even gonna be there.
