College Bowls - 12/28 - 1/7 (Non-BCS games)

Posted (edited)

Nebraska played tough, struggled to do anything well the second half and well, that fake punt is bugging the hell out of me.

I appreciate the fact callahan has a pair but seriously you don't do that.

Also i would have liked to see one or two deep passes this game they took 2 not counting the hail mary that had no shot.

Congrats auburn. It may not have been your prettiest win but it all counts the same in the end.

Edit:

Hell of a secondary in auburn. I wish NU had one or two guys that could be that effective in coverage.

WVU isn't out of this game yet. If they can get a TD before the half, they'll only be down 11 and will get the ball to start the second half.

So much for that. Onside kick recovered by Georgia Tech.

Oh, and Steve Slaton isn't playing in the second half. Not looking good for West Virginia.

omg, Calvin Johnson is unreal.

Are there any other QB's besides Quinn and Smith who are seniors or likely to come out in the draft? Because I'm seriously considering wanting the Raiders to pick him in the draft considering I would be surprised if Porter and Moss return next year. I know I doubted him before but I realize, with this bowl game, that he was really, really hurt by crappy QB play.

Russell from LSU is likely to come out.

Is it possible that he drops to, oh I don't know, the 33rd overall pick? :D

I wouldn't mind him at QB. Decisions, decisions.

ETA: Either way, I don't want Aaron Brooks or Andrew Walter to be the starter next year. Hell, bring in Warner for a year if the rookie isn't ready. That would be better than Brooks/Walter.

It may be kind of a Catch-22 with Callahan. One of the reasons he may be a good recruiter is because he will make the gutsy calls. I really think Nebraska has to look at the 1st half of this game and shake their heads though. They looked like they really dominated.

I really liked how Penn St rammed the ball down the mightly SEC powers throats when the game really mattered. Auburn another of the mightly SEC powers was really outplayed against Nebraska. I cant wait until OSU kills Florida.

Looking at a couple sites, Quinn, Smith, Russell, Brohm, Stanton, Kolb (Houston), Beck (BYU) will be in the mix.

A lot of people think he could actually wind up being #1, ahead of Quinn and easily ahead of Smith.

I hate you for even suggesting that. :D

I did need a good laugh though.

He could be another Antwaan Randle El though. Just, not a good one.

Colt Brennan may come out as well

He's much like Ainge is, he might come out but I don't think he should. They could both be great NFL QBs but I think both need another year in college first.

I'm not sold on Brennan mainly because of his throwing motion and partly because of the Hawaii's gimmick offense.

West Virginia has taken the lead over Georgia Tech 38-35.

Momentum has shifted incredibly in this game. By the way, I'm impressed how WVU has moved the ball and scored on GT's defense today no matter the outcome.
