Garland is trash, I dont want him and his garbage contract anywhere near this team. I swear sometimes, people on this board are freaking [expletive].

Ok, explain to me who else you would want that is available.

lets see, i dunno maybe someone whos going win w/o the support of a great offense like the sox have...lets go out and get westbrook who is BETTER...maybe even penny...who is BETTER

All of this discussion about the WS stockpiling young pitchers to make a run at ARod, A. Jones, Wells, or Tejada doesn't make sense. Even if they get one of these guys, they won't have the pitching to win next year and then Dye, A. Jones, Wells, or Tejada leave for free agency. Williams had better have something lined up because his starters are a valuable commodity this offseason and he should be getting more in return for them.

Maybe he forgot that he traded Freddy Garcia and thinks he still has set rotation?

Gosh. You know, i never realized it before....but I AM [expletive]! Well golly!

Yeesh, everyone just kinda assumed you knew already. Sorry man.

Dontrelle? Miguel Cabrerra after he trades Crede for Lackey?

What makes you think the Indians would trade Westbrook? They have added bullpen arms.

Nope. He knows what he's doing. He's putting himself in perfect position for the future if any one of those prospects works out. And at least one of them likely will.

The White Sox are going to have so much flexibility in '08 and '09 it's ridiculous. They'll be competing for the division title and looking sweet on payroll.

Cubs may compete, but we're setting a window for ourselves, beyond which all the lengthy, bloated contracts will begin to hamstring what we can do.

The Indians wouldn't trade one of their starting pitchers to a division rival. No one knows if Penny is really on the market either.

FWIW, Kenny Williams is denying reports that a deal is close, and says that they will not be making any more moves before they leave the Winter Meetings.

Alright. Just for the record though, he said before the winter meetings he wouldn't trade any of his pitchers unless a great offer came along, and he wound up shipping Freddie off for a couple prospects.

So I wouldn't necessarily believe everything he says.

WFAN is reporting that the Houston owner said the deal is essentially done and they are waiting on an announcement.

For what it's worth.

12:59 p.m., from Jayson Stark

• The White Sox-Astros deal that had Jon Garland going to Houston for Willy Taveras and Taylor Buchholz has no chance of happening as it has been reported. White Sox GM Kenny Williams said that he can't trade a second starter unless he gets two major pieces in return.

The reported Jon Garland trade between the White Sox and Astros has hit a snag and may not be completed.

It's possible that the Astros balked at adding Jason Hirsh to the deal. ESPN's Jayson Stark makes no mention of Hirsh in his report, saying that Willy Taveras and Taylor Buchholz were expected to go to Chicago. FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal hasn't updated his report, which said Hirsh was involved in the discussion. If the trade is dead, the Astros could increase their bid to Andy Pettitte. Pettitte is likely to outpitch Garland next season and wouldn't cost the Astros any talent to add. Dec. 7 - 1:23 pm et

Yeah, Rotoworld says ESPN.com is reporting a snag. I'm just telling you what WFAN is reporting.
