Levine was just on and said that Cashman and Williams met to discuss Crede and pitcher(s) for ARod.

Greenberg mentioned it earlier; Phillips thinks its unlikely.

A-Rod for Crede and Garcia? If that's all it takes, then someone if not the Cubs can beat that. Crede is an above average thirdbaseman while Garcia has been inconsistent since 2005 and I believe is off the books after next year. I'd have to assume that the best prospects are still in the discussion.

It would take a lot more then that to get AROD. And of course AROD still needs to approve it, and I highly doubt he'll want to play for Ozzie.

Didn't Ozzie and ARod get into a verbal spat recently?

Yes. But then again who doesn't Ozzie or Kenny get into a verbal spat with.

The White Sox are in a much better position than the Cubs to land A-Rod.

What do we have to offer that could beat the White Sox offers. The Sox have a good 3b prospect. We don't. The Sox have a solid pitching core, the Cubs do not.

As much as I'd love to see A-Rod in a Cub uniform, I'm afraid it would take a 3rd team to make something work, and even then I'm not sure we would have the prospects to offer that other teams have.

The Angels seem like the best trade partner for A-Rod, or possibly even the Dodgers.

Penny, LaRoche, Loney would suit the Yankees nicely. A 1b, a 3b and a starting pitcher. Furcal, Nomar, Kent and A-Rod in the infield.

How are the Cubs going to get AROD when we don't have any starting pitching for our own rotation, let alone anyone to trade? Somehow I don't think Steinbrenner has been dreaming of a rotation featuring Angel Guzman or Carlos Marmol or an outfield with the overrated one, Felix Pie.

Crede, Garcia, and Buehrle for AROD, cash, pitching prospect seems like a very good offer for the Yanks. Crede and Buehrle are going to leave the Sox after 2007 anyway and Garcia is not that much better than average. Here's your Sox lineup:

Pods LF

Iguchi 2B

AROD SS

Thome DH

Dye RF

Konerko 1B

Pierzynscum C

Fields 3B

Anderson CF

That is a lot of power in 1 lineup and they would still probably have money to go out and sign a starter to replace Buehrle/Garcia. Although pitching was allegedly their "problem" last year, so why wouldn't they just trade Crede for a good pitcher? and if they really want Garcia or Buehrle out, they could probably get some very solid prospects.

It can't be ruled out altogether, but it's certainly much more difficult for the Cubs to get A-Rod than many other teams if A-Rod is truly on the market. The Cubs would need to send all their top prospects to the Marlins, Dontrelle Willis would have to go the Yankees, with A-Rod to the Cubs. That's about the only way it happens.

We've heard rumor after rumor about this and every time it has been debunked and fervently so by a more reputable source.

The Sox aren't getting ARod, I can make a good guess of that.

You figure Crede and Garcia, in Cubs terms, is like A-Ram and Prior. So no thanks

And Crede + Garcia is actually more like Moore + Mateo.

I meant in terms of "the team's starting 3B and a starting pitcher"

Two reasons why I SERIOUSLY doubt Arod will be going to the White Sox:

1: About a yr or so ago, Kenny Williams announced that he will never work with Scott Boras ever again, or something to that effect. And I believe Crede is a client of Boras hence the rumors of his trade.

2: Ozzie pretty much called out ARod shortly before the WBC. When ARod was deciding on which country to play for (his parents were from the Domincan, and ARod was born in New York, of all places, so he has duel citizenship), Ozzie basically call ARod a "sell out", and a "coward" for picking to play for Team USA, over The Domincan Republic. And I am sure ARod has not forgotten about it, nor has Boras.

So, I doubt ESPN1000 report is valid, because it would contradict everything associated with the White Sox org. Looking at it, I think ARod COULD eventually end up with the Angels or the Dodgers.
