Turner just better start things off by establishing the ground game early. The last thing this team needs is for him letting Grossman start to panic early and letting things snowball.

Once they start to run the ball, it's going to make things a lot easier for Rex.

Exactly.

We may end up coming out of this with an improvement up front against the run. Ian Scott is a run stuffing specialist, and with him in on many downs now, we may help in that area.

huh? Ian Scott was getting simply abused last sunday.

Without so much as a sneer, Brian Griese declined to answer how many snaps Lovie Smith had allotted him Thursday at practice.

"If Lovie wanted you to know that, he'd probably tell you," Griese said calmly. "That's why practices are closed."

Of course, that implied a good reason existed to close practice.

So Griese was asked a different way whether he would work any more with the No. 1 offense before Monday's game against the St. Louis Rams than he usually does.

"I don't know what part of that answer you didn't understand," Griese said matter-of-factly.

You do not need to belong to the NFL chapter of Mensa to understand what is going on at Halas Hall.

No matter how safe Smith's rhetoric has sounded, Grossman will be on the clock from the first snap against the Rams. For the first time all season, the Bears also will come prepared to use Griese if Grossman's errors stymie the offense for the third straight game

Sounds like a bad first half on Monday night and Rex could be out.

Well we're sure going to need some offense. Because with those starters out Monday? You can bet the Rams are going to put up some serious points.

I'm worried we aren't even going to have the ball enough to score.

SOUL JESUS CHRIST ENOUGH WITH THIS KINDA CRAP

Its getting to the point where you start "OH my god, I'm afraid of Alex Smith and his tiny hands, OUR DEFENSE CAN'T STOP HIM"

I'm not worried about our offense getting the ball at all. We just have to score with it.

I'm not saying anything anymore. Just going to wait for Monday night.

I'm..........concerned. I'll leave it at that.

Color me worried about not having Tommie Harris in our defense.

And worried about Grossman.

I think we could survive one or the other, but both.....and I think we see another one-and-done.

So that's it? Lose Tommie Harris, who hasn't had a sack since week 4, and it's all over? The guy's a great player, don't get me wrong, but I doubt he's the difference between winning and losing in the playoffs.

With Tommie Harris out and Rex sucking, yes I have serious doubts about winning playoff games.

No updates on Harris?

Unless they put him on the IR, I'd imagine they won't really have a good sense of things for a few weeks.

Vasher's hamstring is getting better, but it sure doesn't sound like he'll play Monday night. Nor should he.

They are reporting on Fox's Pregame show that they have learned that if Grossman falters in the first half, Griese will come in. And not just for the rest of the game, but they will make the change for the rest of the season. Basically, Grossman is on a half by half leash right now....

Yes but they said he was going to Dallas or something to check out his hammy, did they ever have any news after that?

I have heard no news on this. And I assume it means the doc said "yep, it's really bad you're out."

Has Lovie been secretly talking to Terry Bradshaw?

I'm skeptical of this simply because I doubt Lovie would actually come out and say this...but it's probably a good educated guess based on Griese getting more snaps, and Rex's play lately.

Hmmm...Peter King just mentioned on NBC's pregame show that he thinks that Lance Briggs could be the first player in the history of the Bears to get the franchise tag.

I know it's doom & gloom, but really and not optimistic at all for the Bears to get past the 1st round of the playoffs. Short of Grossman reverting back to what he could be or Griese inexplicably doing great, something doesn't feel right. I can't put my finger on it, but I'm not confident at all.

I hope I'm proven VERY wrong.

If the Bears get a bye they won't even play in the 1st round.

Fine, the 2nd round, which would still be the 1st round for them to play in.

I just don't see this at all. Have you seen the NFC? We're going to likely have HFA through till the Super Bowl, and I just can't imagine an NFC coming in there and beating us assuming that either Rex turns it around, or Griese is in there. And I don't think it's a stretch to say one of those will happen. I don't think we'll see either the Cowboys or the Saints until the NFC championship game...so who do you see beating us in the first game?

If that happens, I'm guessing we'll have a very angry and unhappy Lance Briggs on our hands.

I was advocating this about a month ago and I hope the Bears do this.

Anyone.

Like I said, it's nothing really concrete, I just feel really nervous about this team. I'm not even sure why.

I can see him being a little irked at first, but he would be getting top 5 money so it's not like we would be getting him for cheap.

Because it hurt really bad to watch this team lay an egg at home in 2001 and 2005. That kind of pain sticks with you for awhile-------at least until your team gets past that point.

The Tommie Harris thing is what killed my spirit. I just don't know how good our D is going to be without him in there. The good thing is we have depth. But depth can make up for Tank Johnson or even Alex Brown. Depth cannot make up for Tommie Harris.

With the Cowboys about to lose, a Bears victory will clinch a first round bye for the playoffs. So we are a win away from getting back to where we were a year ago. That's all you can ask for.
