One of the biggest shames in baseball is the relationship between Sammy Sosa and the Chicago Cubs (fans). Sosa has gone from hero to zero in a very short time, and for good reasons.

What would it take for Sammy and the Cubs to patch things up and for him to be beloved by the Cub fans again? What would it take to right the ship?

For him to go back and uncork his bat and not walk out on the team at the end of the season and to not complain when Dusty wanted to drop him in the order when he couldn't hit at all anymore.

Hmmm, if he quit being a self centered egotistical jack ass, I might consider liking him (again).

This would definitely help. Did anyone see 'Sosa Uncensored' last night? Incredibly obnoxious.

The language gap is often used as a cheap excuse for his weak congressional testimony - I don't buy it for a minute. As long as he's asked questions he wants to answer, he's perfectly cogent and his accent is perfectly understandable.

I am in your camp. He seems like a self-worshipper.

It would take him becoming a "bleed blue", rah rah Cubs guy. Maybe get a radio gig as a barely qualified color guy. Generate sympathy with poor health. That sort of thing

I love Ron Santo.

Good for you. Would you love Sammy if he fit the Santo mould?

Santo is a good guy and was a good ballplayer. But do you think he'd be "Cubs legend Ron Santo" and have his number retired if he retired from baseball and didn't continue to be a Cubs cheerleader for 30 years?

But the point is valid. Many hated Santo because he was pompous and arrogant too. Now he's beloved.

It could be done, but I don't think it will be. Sosa will stay down in the dominican and not accept much blame. And that will be it.

Doc Brown, a DeLoreon and the Flux Capacitor.

Personally, I think its a shame the way Sosa is now perceived by many.

People to look back and remember what he did for the team, the city, and the fanbase.

Remembering how happy he made them feel and how much you loved watching him play.

Those who truely hate him choose to focus on a few bad things that he did that I think are trumped by his accomplishments

Personally I have 10 times more respect for Sammy than Andy MacPhail.

If there is someone who deserves to bear the cloak of same in Cubs history, its Andy not Sammy.

just my opinion.
