i still dont think he would be a bad option. he can hit 2nd and shouldnt cost too much in prospects. he would also be a temp fill in until pie is ready. there are not too many other options out there imo unless they want to pay roberts big $ for 3+ years.

I would like him as a Supersub, not as an everyday player.

If he would come cheap, ie, one of the surplus minor guys, I'd be all in favor of it.

Don't see the Angels trading him, they'll play him at 3B (unless Dallas McPherson starts playing well).

Sucks to be an Angels fan right now, they had their hearts set on going after Aramis now they have to settle for figgins and his production at 3rd, or hope McPherson figures out how to hit an offspeed pitch between now and April 1st.

Chone had a worse season offensively than Pierre did last season.

The OPS hawks wont let you get away with this one.

I don't know about worse than Pierre, but he was bad. Chone won out in OBP by a narrow margin, and won in OPS+ 89-81. He was also much better in 2004.

you mean 2005. Pierre kicked buttocks in 2004...it was his career year.

Pierre still is a slightly bigger threat, although Figgins is way more versatile.

Dont want either one for the money they think that they are worth.

I like Figgins, and I think he's a better hitter than what he showed in '06. He has enough flexibility that he wouldn't block Pie long-term. That said, I doubt the Angels move him.

Figgins would be a great 25th man.

I have no desire to give him a starting job or first man off the bench status, though. And I probably don't have much of a desire to pay whatever it takes in prospects to get him.

from the la times on gmjr:

"But he will be a defensive upgrade over Chone Figgins, he would provide considerably more power out of the leadoff spot, and he would enable the Angels to move Figgins back to third base and down in the order, or package Figgins in a trade for a power hitter."

jones for figgins & willits perhaps?

I dont like him because his named is spelled wrong. Even though I know what it is, I always think its "Ch-own". It makes me mad. I cant deal with that for 162 games.

Thats his name I dont care that he wants people to call him Shawn, its not Shawn its Chone (like phone). ITS CH - OWN... if you dont like it Chone go cry to your momma, if she wanted you called Shawn she'd have named you Shawn!

***rant off***

Sorry this guy's name bothers me more than that guy a few years back that wanted to be called Rock. *sigh*

And Jacque supplants Rivera or Anderson....in the immortal words of Bruno "eesh don't think so". See the key to a trade is that the guy you are trading to the team needs to fill a hole or be better than the players they already have.

really? is that how it works? who would have guessed that? maybe because jones had a better year in 2006 than anderson has had since 2003?

Unfortunately, the way baseball works, if a guy is making $11M, hes not riding the pine no matter how average hes been. Ohh and looking at OPS+ Jacque was only better in 2006 (by only 9). They were the same in 2005 and Anderson was significantly better before that. From the Angels perspective you can't actually think they would trade for JJ, do you?!?!? With the signing of GMJr we lost a trading partner.
