15/350

Almost there. The Cards would post him and the Yanks would hit $150M for a posting fee making the total package deal half a biillllon dollars.

Yeah Pujols need to opt out. He's a freaking bargain.

Arod money.

A-Rod money plus $1

Seriously $25 to 30 million for 10 years plus incentives.

100 k for MVP

100 k for Silver Slugger

100 k for Gold Glove

500 k if all the above in the same season

in this market think of it this way.

Soriano got 8 years, and hes 30. he also got 136M

If 2007, Pujols will be 27. That's the cusp of his prime. If we were to be a FA right now, he would get:

10 years

an NTC for at least the majority of the contract.

20-25 mil per.

10/250 minimum.

And you know who would sign him.....

It would depend on who else was on the market. This offseason, he'd probably get 10/220 at least. If he and say, Howard and Cabrera were all FA, it would probably be less.

Albert is probably PO'd watching guys like Soriano get paid more than him. Hell, Carlos Lee may well be better paid than Pujols. How crazy is that?

AP can't opt out, thank Him.

What is gross to think about is that he signed the 8 year deal at age 24. This means he will have just completed a season still in his prime at 32. It's a real possibility that the Cardinals won't be able to afford what he will be offered. Hopefully they'll offer a somewhat competitive package and he'll stay.

Albert will not play for another team (unless the Cardinals no longer want him for whatever reason). What in anything we know about him makes anybody think he'd take a deal somewhere else just for the money?

Because he's a professional baseball player? 95% of the time they'll take the 'more money' route no matter what they've been saying about how much they love the town, want to stay, blah blah blah.

Remember, Johnny Damon plays for the Yankees now.

Nah, by then they will have found the "new Albert Pujols" and can afford to let "Fat Albert" go.

You know he signed that deal at 28 and will be 36 when it's done.

He'll be getting 1.2M per year from 2020-2029 in deferred money. Awesome.
