I'm surprised it took Rawlings this long to give it to Pujols.

Congrats Greg. If I'd known in advance what we'd get for you, I'd have wanted you to win it exclusively as a Cub.

Don't know if he's still skating on reputation or there's just a lack of good candidates, but Ausmus just isn't that great a catcher anymore. He does an OK job of blocking errant pitches, but he can't throw baserunners out to save his life.

How did Aramis get beat out by Rolan? That makes me mad!!

Are you serious?

Feliz, Wright, Rolen, Zimmerman > Ramirez.

And how did you come to that conclusion?

Because it's mostly true. Although I'd argue that Wright is not quite ahead of him yet, and I'm not all that keen on Feliz.

Neither Rolen nor Pujols deserved the GG. Rolen waved ole more often than not this year at the tough hits, his range is drastically reduced. At 1B, Todd Helton is a far superior defensive guy than Albert. But we all know the GG thing is a joke anyway, hard to get too excited about that stuff.

Zimmerman is the defensive king at 3B these days.

Wright was among the worst fielding 3Bs this year by BBTF's metric. Most scouts and analysts expect Wright to be a very good defensive 3B, but he wasn't this year.

The other three are better fielders than Aramis.

Nor was he last year. The discussion almost got me in big trouble, with the big man.

I hope Pujols enjoys this gold glove.

If D. Lee is healthy he wins it ever year hands down.

Agreed. Pujols is keeping the GG for 1st seat warm for Derrek Lee. When healthy there are FEW 1st basemen in Lee's catergory for defense. And quite frankly, Pujols is NOT one of them.

Enjoy Pujols, it will be return to the RIGHTFUL owner starting in 2007.

What will the poor baseball writers do when guys like Maddux, Ausmus and Pudge retire? They might have to (gasp) watch some baseball and see who the actual best fielders are!

Nah, they'll just pick a Molina or two.

The Gold Glove HAS to be the most meaningless award in professional sports.

I think I actually have a gold glove or two in the hall closet.

I agree that the GG is a joke most of the time.

Rolen seemed to play his worst D vs. the Cubs this year. I still think he's a top notch fielder. Probably living on rep these days more than he should.

Pujols was fantastic at 1st this year. That said, Lee is one of the best I've ever watched in person. It will probably go back his way next year if he stays healthy. My biggest protest is that Molina didn't get his first GG. Heck, he hit .216 this year. that should tell you something about his play in the field.

Oh well. It's the MVP and Cy that I'm waiting for.

That's why he didn't win the GG.

When Chico Lind won the '92 GG, I lost all faith in the voters. I've not given a rat's butt about the GG since.
