1). I hate Notre Dame 2). They do NOT deserve a BCS bid this year. They willl probably still get it, which will make me hate them even more, but still, they are freakin' NOTRE DAME. Oh goodness gracious, we can never disrespect ND, we should be punched below the belt if we ever do. What an idiot for even suggesting we even upset ND. By the way, I just wanna let everyone know that two of my best friends go to Notre Dame. Not oly that, my Grandpa is a HUGE Notre Dame fan. I still don't like them though.

May I ask where the origin of this rant came from? It's actually pretty good-one harsher concluding sentence, and it might be Denny Green territory (not close to Jim Mora territory though) :D

By the way, Boston College losing last night is bad news for those who wanted to see their team get a BCS at-large bid. Since the ACC winner is now going to even be further down in the BCS, they might stay behind Boise State. If Boise State stays ahead of the ACC winner, then they only need top 16 status to get a BCS bowl.

So 2 of the likely 10 BCS teams are going to be either Wake Forest, Maryland, Georgia Tech from the ACC plus Boise State.

Or all they need to be is top 12. If Boise runs the table they are almost a lock. Currently they are 14 in the BCS. Tennessee lost yesterday and are ranked 11th, Boise will jump them this week and probably be 13th. Rutgers is right in front of Boise at 13, if/when they lose Boise has their top 12. USC or Cal is going to lose 1 more because they play each other and USC/ND is going to lose one more because of the same thing.

Wisconsin's win yesterday might jump then in front of Boise and it doesnt look like they will lose again this year. That might help prevent Boise but with the ND/USC/CAl scenarios still in place they might be top 12 even with Wisconsin ahead of them.

I think that will be the case, but I'm not completely confident of that for a couple of reasons.

1)If Rutgers splits with WV/Louisville, they could very well stay ahead because they will probably actually go up in the polls because of the signature win.

2)Teams from behind-specifically Wisconsin, LSU, and Oklahoma-I think with strong finishes they could jump Boise State-they all got very good wins this week which will help them a great deal in both the polls and the computers. Don't be surprised if LSU makes a jump in the BCS to 12th or 13th. They were only 24th in the computers before this week-the win over Tennessee will vault them probably between 15 and 20, which combined with their good poll ranking will give them a significant jump.

Those could offset the teams from ahead. I think that Boise State will get to the top 12 and stay there, but I'm not completely sure yet.

I forgot about LSU's win yesterday in Knoxville. However, LSU still has yet to play Arkansas and Arksanas is a hair ahead of Boise right now. Arkansas also plays Tennessee this week. The attrition of the other teams surrounding Boise in the rankings right now looks to be pretty favorable for a top 12.

If you want your team to get a BCS at-large spot, you are cheering for Georgia Tech at this point to win out. Currently GT is 20th in the BCS and Boise is 14th. Tennessee (11), BC (15), and CU (19) lost yesterday. BSU may not move this week and could get leap frogged by LSU. So, that puts BSU still at 14th, maybe 13th and GT moves up to 17th.

Tech has gimmies with UNC and Duke which would put them at 9-2. The big one comes against Georgia. If Tech wins that road game, they are 10-2 and knocking on the door of the Top 10, neck and neck with Boise State. If they win the ACC title game, they jump ahead of Boise State. At least, that's how I see it right now. This of course assumes BSU wins out...

Hmmm...the worst team in the Big East scored 31 points when they played at Illinois.

Rutgers is the worst team in the Big East? Either way, Illinois is playing almost all freshman so its clear they aren't the same team as they were at the beginning of the season.

Syracuse did my friend. Rutgers only beat them 33-0.

The networks are facing a ratings nightmare. It is a distinct possiblity that they will have to accept Rutgers, Wake Forest and Boise St. into the big games this year. I, for one, think it's great.

If i understand the BCS correctly even if GT finishes 10th and Boise finishes 11 or 12 they are in. If Boise is 13, 14, 15 or 16 then they need to finish in front of the ACC champ. Boise probably wont slip too many spots unless they lose.

The Fiesta Bowl is looking disaster right in the face. If Boise makes it to a BCS game and gets rolled with bad TV ratings we are going to hear a lot of bitching about allowing these mid major programs in the BCS. I know this isnt the same team as the Boise team a couple years ago that went to Gainsville to play Florida but that team got absolutly or rolled against 'the big boys'. Its was over in like 5 minutes it was so bad. I wouldnt expect much different this time around.

ND sucks. Their fans are more whiny than Sanoma and they don't deserve to be in any BCS bowl game ever, no matter what their record because they don't play in a conference.

Yeah ratings FUBAR. Im kinda partial to the Demon Deacons. A couple years ago they were my Madden college team. I took them out of the ACC and put em in the Big Ten. Any ACC champ at this point isnt great shakes either.

BTW, did everybody hear about what Wisconsin did at the end of the first half yesterday? Pretty funny if you ask me-I'll explain more if somebody wants to know. That was a great way to expose the new clock rules (it could have happened with the old clock rules also, it just would have been harder).

I read about it. Apparently they intentionally committed two false starts to run 20 seconds off the clock before punting, giving Penn State virtually no time to do anything.

That rule needs to be changed to ref's discretion. Don't run off any time if the offensive team will benefit from it.

Yeah, that was pretty funny. Intentionally botching two kicks to run the clock down.

If Notre Dame beats USC, they will get a BCS bowl and will deserve a BCS bowl. If they lose to USC then I think it depends on how many points they lose by. If it's a close game then they'll get credit since the game is at USC. But if ND gets hammered, which is a possibility, then they shouldn't get a BCS bowl.

I think Rutgers has to beat Louisville to have a chance solely because of when they play. Rutgers is ranked 14 in the coaches poll, thank you Warpticon, and if they lose to Louisville on Thursday, they will drop and a win over WVU wouldn't bump them up enough. But if they beat Louisville, they will jump up a lot and would probably be able to cope with a loss to WVU. Plus that would give them a shot at the Big East title (depending on the tiebreakers). If they lose to Louisville, UL wins the Big East.

Looks like the good old boys are still keeping Texas up there. It's good for them to keep Rutgers down too that way it doesn't look as impressive when Louisville beats them. Arkansas is still being robbed too. I was listening to ESPN Gameday yesterday and some goof ex coach admitted he voted Auburn 5 and Arkansas 14th. They asked why it was because he had Auburn winning the whole thing before the season started. They then asked why so far ahead even after Arkansas beat them by 17 in Auburn he said it was personal bias. He actually admitted this. Not facts but personal bias. I'm sick of fighting this type of good old boy networking every year in college football. Michigan struggles against a 3-7 team at home while Louisville beats the #4 team by 10 and yet the Big 10 team stays where they are. I GUARANTEE you if Louisville beat Ball State by that same amount they'd drop like a rock.

Not to mention that Louisville would be getting ripped and everybody would say they aren't very good and don't deserve to play in the National Title game. Every sportswriter would say that was proof that the Big East is an inferior conference.

The win wasnt pretty but they most definetly didnt struggle. The had over 500 of total yards on offense. Ball State made 3 really big plays and thats it, take those plays away and Michigan dominated the game. The 2 late scores were with many 2nd and 3rd stringers on the field. This doesnt excuse Texas moving in front of Louisville, im suprised about that. The coaches comments you are referring too pisses me off too. Troy Smith threw for like 100 yards against Illini and they only outgained Illini by like 20 yards. I could argue they struggled more this week than UM.

Michigan struggles against a 3-7 team at home while Louisville beats the #4 team by 10 and yet the Big 10 team stays where they are. I GUARANTEE you if Louisville beat Ball State by that same amount they'd drop like a rock.

I forgot about Ohio State. They are a good team as is Michigan but I'm sick of the free passes these teams get. I'd like a playoff but I'm sure if they had one they'd have 8 teams from the SEC in it.
