Gaetti was a clutch hitter. Maybe he could teach that to the team. If we could of replaced Rotschild with a PC that can teach clutch pitching like Duncan we'd be doing great!

This is getting really old. Please stop attacking my opinions.

And you obviously didn't understand what I was saying to begin with.

I didn't see my post as a response to you in any way.

On the contrary, placing opinions on a message board leaves them open to attack, especially eroneous ones.

Hmmm Gaetti had a 308 career obp, he's perfect!

Ron Jackson was never any good either, scratch him off the list:

Reminds of the call that we didn't need to re-sign Alou because we had " the Creature" to play left.

What does that have to do with anything? Or are you just openly trolling now?

I'm not asking a rhetorical question here, I would actually like to know if you can relate this to the discussion at hand in any meaningful way.

I think the answer is obvious.

Not trolling at all. Just a reminder of opinions expressed.

And I've dealt with that in another thread.

Kinda like the opinion you expressed previously that we were lucky to have Macias and Neifi as fill-ins?

Again, I don't understand the logical connection between that opinion and this thread. It seems like you're trying to get a rise out of Vance (in other words, trolling).

Is there some connection that I'm not seeing? Are you confused and posting in the wrong thread, perhaps?

Funny stuff. Never happened though.

Terry Pendleton also had a career OBP of .316, and he's highly regarded as a hitting coach.

why exactly was Jackson fired? because they didn't make the playoffs?

I've heard two reasons. One is that he was't a Francona-guy. The other is that he wasn't as good in the technical aspects as they wanted.

Amittedly I don't know a whoe lot about Jackson. But if its true that he wasn't good in the "technical aspects" of hitting, it doesn't speak well for his ability as a hitting coach.

At that stage, I don't much of an emphasis on the technical side of things. Most slumps are mental before physical, I'm sure he has the ability to correct flaws.

To me, if they could someone who is as passionate about patience as Jackson is, then I'd support them.

The Cubs inability to work the count to get into good hitting count and their fear of two strike hitting turned avg. at best talent into well below avg. production as a total group.
