He's available you know ;)

The sammy of 1998-2003 is available?

Yea, the old Sammy. Not Balitmore Sammy.

What can be said for Sosa being universally panned in 2004 for putting up a 35 tater campaign? Could have used that last year. More than anything, I miss his swagger. I know there was the boombox incident and whatever, but he was the FACE OF THE CUBS. Derrek Lee's a great guy, but he just doens't have what Sammy had. Call it 'It', call it charisma....whatever, the Cubs were as plain as grandma's yogurt last year.

Ehhhh....

I appreciate what he did for the city and the team. But, you'll never convince me it wasn't artificially induced.

Also, bailing on your team the last day of the season when all you had to do was hang out another 3 hours or so is inexcusable.

I wish him well in his future endeavors, but his time has come and gone.

i miss rooting for a competent baseball team

You got to do that for what? 2 and a half seasons?

Dude, get off your computer and get ready to celebrate.

Sammy had a ton of moments that made me love him and this team more than I thought I ever would, but I definitely hope that Lee NEVER comes close to having the same "it" Sammy had. Sammy rarely seemed like a true team player and never seemed like a leader. His ego showed through constantly and whenever he got really good it just got worse. I'm not gonna pretend like he didn't play fantastic baseball or do great things for this team, but I'm also not going to ignore his faults and I'm certainly not going to wish for his personality traits again. I want the team to do a lot better, but I don't want to see that kind of ego/attitude being the centerpiece of the organization again. It's self-destructuve.

yeah, I guess I shouldn't get greedy. Actually, at least the last two years I knew the Cubs sucked, so it wasn't as painful as 2003 or 2004. I know the Cubs will never win a World Series, so maybe I should just root for their losing to be as painless as possible.

We havent been above .500 since his departure.. Egh..

The Cubs also haven't won a world series since Jimmy Slagle retired at the end of 1908. We should bring him back.

and have yet to win it all in their new stadium

I wonder when the last one before that was. I can't count 2001: that was Sammy and the Sosettes. 1998 was pretty much the same. 1989 wasn't really that good. I guess 1984 was the last team before 03 that could truly be considered competent.

Every time you show that picture, I want to kill you just a little bit more.

Hey, we still need a platoon partner for Jacque. :)

If Sammy was willing to take the money and the role, I'd love it. But his ego wouldn't allow him to do it.
