The Vikings seal up the win. 31-13 with 8 minutes to go.

Anyone worried about the division? If they can beat NE next week in the dome, they can breeze to a 13-3 or 12-4 record

As the resident Vikings fan on this board (are there any others?) don't be worried about the division. We're looking good and our schedule looks nice after next week, but we have a 2 game hole and that Bears schedule is just too nice. Like someone else said we're between a 9-11 win team and the Bears won't fall back to that.

Now had we simply not fumbled a handoff in the last minutes of the Bears game and if the Cardinals don't completely melt down Monday night, you would have reason for worry.

I think there's a few other Viking fans lurking on this board somewhere...

Anyway, I'm of the opinion the Vikes lose today if they don't get lucky and Hasselbeck goes down. I'm also of the opinion that the Bears have a 3 game lead on the Vikes, because they've shown the only thing they can do in Soldier Field is get their collective butts handed to them on a platter, served up medium-rare.

The net result is positive for the Bears, provided we take care of our business. With Hasselbeck out, and the Beagles looking weaker each game, there's fewer power-contenders in the NFC than ever before to stop the Bears. If we take care of our business, everything goes through Soldier Field, were it looks like only Steve Smith has the magic key.

Polssibly, but tough to say. The Vikes were up 17-10 when Seneca first took the field. We were able to run the ball fairly well and our defense was handling Hasselbeck pretty well. He scorched us on that blown coverage, but after that was 6/16 for 55 yards.

Yeah I don't see the Vikings winning at Soldier Field. But at least we have a coach who can get his teams to play well on the road and win in some tough environments. Under Tice we had no shot at road games besides places like Detroit. We at least have a better chance than in the past.

It looks like the Arizona Cardinals are WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!

Isn't the NFL great? One week they dominate the Bears and the next week, they get worked by the pathetic Raiders. I love it.

Not to nitpick, but I made this joke much further back in the thread...joke stealer! :D

UGH! So there are rumors that Hass is out for the season after the dirty play of rolling on his leg by the same guy who did it to Palmer!

All I can say is Go SENECA WALLACE! I will laugh manically when the Seahawks make the playoffs with playing a large portion of their games without their best players.

But at least their major FA signing is a freak. Julien Peterson is a stud. 2 More sacks this week

This isn't even close to being an accurate statement. Kimo von Oelhoffen caused Palmer's knee injury. He played for the Steelers and now plays for the Jets. He's not even in the same conference as E.J. Henderson.

I will laugh manically when I watch Seneca Wallace attempt to quarterback an NFL team.

Three interesting quotes from the Colts-Redskins post-game:

Manning on the big hit where Daniels snapped his head back:

"The guy wouldn't let go of my helmet," Manning replied. "I looked into my helmet to see if my head was in there."

On talking about his possible injury:

"I come from the Bill Belichick school of injuries. You're not going to get much out of me on that."

Here is possibly the funniest quote of the day for Bears fans, this one comes from Washington's Phillip Daniels:

"We had him where we wanted him," Daniels said, "but we let him off the hook."

Sound close to something else anybody heard's recently? :D

Here are the sources on that, this time actually two Washington Post articles:

Says a lot about how that team thinks of Dennis Green. He scapegoated the offensive coordinator, and I believe lost his team in the process. How does it make any sense to fire an OC 3 months into a rookie's career?

QFT

Not to mention after having success against one of the leagues best defenses the previous week.

when people look back at my life, they might identify 10/22/2006 as the day I gave up on sports.

They'll bounce back Truffle. It's early in the season and they still have games left with the Cowboys and Giants. Donny made some bad reads and TB made him pay.

Yeah, I've been telling myself that my teams would bounce back for the past 20 years. Games against the Cowboys and Giants don't cheer me up, because those teams are better than the Eagles and are playing at home. After the Eagles lose this week they'll be 4-4 going into the bye, and looking at their second half schedule, that will pretty much sink them.

I guess the good side of this is that I'm not going to bother watching the games, since I just get pissed off and don't even enjoy it. And if you're not enjoying what you're doing in your free time, why bother even doing it?

I guess it would be hypocritical of me to called you a pessimist. It must have been frustrating to watch them get through that 5 year stretch of greatness without a SB win. Worse than Bears fans who still regret only getting 1 SB out of that great 80's team.

The Eagles should be able to win their next 3 games, but the playoffs are still in doubt this season. I remember listening to a lot of preseason talk, and the consensus was they'd suck, right up until around the Stallworth trade, and people really thought they were unfairly overlooked by the experts.

Donovan McNabb should not have outscored Phil Rivers in my fantasy league by TWENTY this week when he threw 3 picks to Rivers's 0.

That is all.

Rivers threw a pick and lost a fumble this week.

Alright, complaint rescinded, and points lost by me for being stupid.

The optimist inside me died and was replaced with a realist. Too many Flyers playoff chokes, too many Eagles disappointments, Cubs 2003, Penn State losses to Michigan... hell even Holy Cross got my hopes up 3 years in a row in the NCAA Tourney only to lose close games each time. I watch my teams waiting for the other shoe to drop. And on the rare occasion that I think they'll pull out a close one - after all, how can a guy make a 60+ yarder when he's never made one over 50? - they find a way to lose again.

Anyway, I'll watch the Eagles when I don't have anything else going on. But I work overnights, so most weeks from now on I'm just going to sleep through the games after I get back from work.

I got through Carolina Panthers 2001 (15 straight losses, 11 of them blown 4th quarter leads) and Carolina Panthers 2004 (1-7 start, most injuries probably ever suffered by a football team, came back to have a chance to make playoffs, choke to lose playoff berth to then-pathetic Saints at end of season). You'll be alright.

The Flyers, Eagles and Cubs are legit reasons to feel doomed. I don't think those PSU losses were all that surprising, and you simply can't count Holy Cross tourney losses when discussing disappointing sports results that ruin your faith.

The Michigan loss last year was brutal. In 2002 I was at the Big House when Penn State completed a long pass in the last minute, but Bryant Johnson had both feet in bounds and was ruled out. That was a hard pill to swallow as well.

You guys actually have it easy. Most years, the Cubs just suck outright. The Eagles and Flyers have a way of getting your hopes down, but then doing something great to get your hopes back up, only to crush them again. The Phillies did it this season. The Eagles did it last game. The Flyers do it at least half the time they make the playoffs. That type of losing, year in and year out, is not fun.

Yeah, I know I'll be right. But I'm just losing interest. I love sports and I'll always watch, but at some point I'm just going to get tired of being disappointed and just watch for the fun of it - not really root for anybody. When you get kicked in the groin too many times, it'd be stupid to keep letting it happen.
