Hell of a win for IU. UCONN was undefeated at home before today. UCONN was also the most athletic team IU has seen this year. Sampson's boys are now 15-4, with all 4 losses coming to teams currently ranked (UK will drop out in the next poll). With the 77-73 win, the Hoosiers have still not allowed 75 points in a game this season.

Actually, UConn got beat by Marquette in their last game at home, ending a 31-game win streak at home. Still, that's a program defining win. Kelvin Sampson will be in Bloomington for as long as he wants the job. Amazing effort by the boys in red. They got manhandled on the UConn end of the boards, but they hit their free throws. 20-21 from the line, including 6 for 6 down the stretch. UConn was just 17 of 28 from the line, which was the difference. IU did a great job sharing the ball, with 18 assists on 24 baskets. The experienced stars stepped up with White having a monster 1st half and Wilmont doing it in the 2nd.

I worry about going back on the road again on Tuesday to face the Illini. U of I hasn't been very good this year, but DJ is gonna be spent having played 38 minutes today and again having to face an athletic front line.

I'm worried about the emotion of that game as well. U of I fans don't exactly like IU's program right now, and it will be a really tough enviornment to go in and win. I'd love the win, but I'm not incredibly hopeful.

Looking forward, that Wisconsin game at home in a week or two is huge. The only game IU plays them this year at Bloomington-a win there gives us a possible huge tiebreaker advantage while protecting the homecourt.

I just got cheap tix to IU-UI on ebay! It will be crazy there, and a tough game, but IU is the better team. If any Illini want to brawl, I'll be the guy in red.

Another internet tough guy.

After Saturday' game vs Wisconsin, I'm convinced Jamar Smith and Brian Randle are hurting, its probably too late for a medical redshirt. But, I believe Weber is doing a dis-service to them and the future of the Illini by continuing to play them. He might as well bench them for the remainder of the season and work for next season towards that end, I'd like to Carwell take Randle' spot in the starting lineup. What do you think?

We have a chance to be tied for first and lose to a crappy St. John team. It's going to be a wide open race to the #1 spot for the Garden.

I hope Smith is hurt, cause as a guy who was only a shooter myself if he isn't, well he is in trouble. I feel so bad for Randle. His injuried have robbed him of his explosiveness. He was crying after the game during his interview against Wiscy, I think he is as frustrated as you can be. I really would go.

Weber has to start recruiting at a higher level though. Frazier is a damn fine backup point guard. He would have looked really good behind a Sheron Collins. If this doesn't happen I think Bruce's job will be in jeopardy soon. This IU game is almost a must win for him because of what hass went down between the two programs the last year.

I really love watching Big East basketball, sans Pitt. It is top to bottom much better than the ACC, yet never really gets the credit that it should. Cuse, why isn't Harris dominating more than what he has?

He's having problems fitting in with the offensive scheme. I think he needs more movement and and our offense has always been a pro styled type of offense. I think he'll be fine next year when the 3 seniors leave. I was surprised to see what a poor shooter he was, not really poor but below average. I think he needs more touches to get comfortable and get into a rhythm.

Heck, even Devendorf isn't even starting anymore.

The ACC always gets the hype and it doesn't bug me because they play it on the court for the Championship. I'm not too thrilled with 16 teams but I do like having the ex USA teams in the league and that they are all in one group and not divisions.

Oh yeah and Pitt just mugs you up and down the court and I enjoy disliking that team.

I believe Weber is well aware of the fact that he must step up his recruiting, his 2008 class is key. Let's hope he learned some hard lessons from the Gordon and Rose recruitments and pulls in good class - there is the potential for a stellar class: Lewis Jackson, Michael Dunigan amongst others. Of his 2007 class, I'm thinking McCamey and Watkins will be solid contributors, Cole and Tisdale seem like projects to me. I'm not expecting much from either of them.

Well until we get any of the '08 kids I am notholding my breath. We lloked great for Sheron. Had Gordon. Should have been able to beat Memphis for DRose, Memphis wtf. But, BAM didn't get any of that done. I think Lewis Jackson is the key.

Oh and also I just heard on the radio Randle and Pruitt both might not play against IU. Man these injuries are great.

Fantastic!!! For sh**ts and giggles throw in a hobbled Jamar Smith and Chester Frazier, coupled with facing that beacon of ethics Kelvin Sampson!!! For the record I don't begrudge Gordon for re-opening his recruitment and making the best decision for him. I do have a problem with the manner in which Sampson went about Gordon' recruitment. That's OK IU fans and KS, what goes around comes around, someday you're going to be on the other end of such a recruiment.

ND's just one game out of first right now and don't have to play Pitt :D

The bad news is we still haven't won a road game yet and ND goes to the Carrier Dome a week from tomorrow. That could be trouble if the Irish don't take the two games this week like they need to.

I just want to get a bye for the first games at MSG because all those games killed us last year.

I want to get a bye because it would automatically tie the farthest ND's gotten in that tournament in something like five years.

We really don't like MSG.

Yeah the same fans who are ready to brawl in Champaign when surrounded by UI fans. I could give two cents.

It's not whining yet, but its getting pretty close.

I couldn't be happier with the coaching job Sampson has done this year.

I'd say it is whining. Get over it. Sampson should have called Weber, obviously, and he didn't. That's it. Don't act like you (by that I mean Illini fans) and Weber didn't know it was a possibility. Yeah, the kid told you he was still coming to UI when he had clearly re-opened his recruiting with IU. It was obvious to everyone with half a brain that Gordon might go to IU. He ultimately bailed on UI, but it clearly wasn't a surprise and I'm not sure what Weber would could have done about it even if Sampson or Gordon had been openly clear to him about what was going on.

Second of all, I assume the "let's brawl" comment was a joke.

He could have really went hard after ETwaun Moore and Dar Tucker who played the same spot and said hey EJ won't be here to take your minutes. But, yeah besides crippling our recruiting class with both actions Sanctions was a saint. Who cares it's done now. Sampson is what he is, a &%#@. He will get his come uppance in the end.

With this game looming you can't really be suprised. I don't really care about Pearl anymore, but two years ago it was talked about because we were about to play them.

I understand the game tomorrow has a lot to do with it.

That, combined with IU playing very well (when most Illinois fans thought they would finish in the lower half of the Big 10) and the Illlini battling some injuries and losing a few more than they thought they would have to this point.

I'm not fully confident IU can go into Champaign and get a win. Despite the three losses at home by UI, it is still a tough environment to play in. I do know this game means a hell of a lot more to UI than it does for IU.

It just cracks me up to read a lot of Illini fans say tomorrow night is their chance for a "signature win" when just a couple months ago they didn't miss an opportunity to tell everybody how awful IU was.

Oh we are cooked. Two starters out. You are still awful, you play hard and have had an easy big ten schedule thus far. Plus the big ten sucks besides the two big teams. About how it has been the last 5 years with just two new teams at the top. Alhtough I guess it was three and wiscy remained.

Awful?

#16 RPI

# 8 Pomeroy

#15 Sagarin

I'll take that kind of awful any day of the week.

14-4. 4 losses to Butler, KY, Duke, and Ohio St.
