Whew. That was a heck of a game. SIU was pretty fortunate to pull that out as Bradley missed a couple of FTs in the late going. Still, a win is a win. Bradley is a dangerous team, though...that's for sure.

MVC Final tomorrow pits us against Creighton at 1 on CBS. Should be fun.

i hate rich mcbride. just realized UI-Iowa is on here. i havent seen him hit a 3 but i've seen at least 3 bricks, early in the shot clock, from 5 ft past the line.

He's been playing really pathetic today. Another awful shot just about seals the deal.

Didn't get the game here in Topeka, but it seemed like another Illinois road game --- has lead can't hold it because they can't shoot and can't hit free throws. Some of the highlights I've seen showed McBride holding Haluska. I hope that wasn't the case the whole game. If so, I see why Haluska scored 26. All I can say is thank goodness we didn't play in Columbus or in Madison this year.

It was our team under Weber with his own recruits again. We had no offense and let a Chicago kid, who suprise we didn't get make two threes to beat us.

Did Illinois fans actually want Freeman at the time though? I honestly do not know. It seemed like there were a lot of mixed opinions on him coming out of high school.

I love his game, his attitude and confidence. He's just not a PG? I think he's the prototypical combo guard. Decent shooter, good passer/vision, average ball handling but not the right temprament to be a PG.

Hopefully we can get a true PG to allow him to play off the ball next year because I think he can be very good in that role.

Woa, Tim Floyd and Tony Bennett looked like they were ready to fight over a defensive interference call there. The Washington sherriffs were even on the court for that.

WSU up 81-78 on USC with about 30 seconds left in double OT.

No because we thought we weregonna get one of the following, Sherron Collins, Jeremy Pargo, Justin Dentmon, etc. It just really hurts that we whiffed on all of those kids and instead bring in an out of state kid who is very comparable to Freeman besides the fact he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat(Frazier). Or in other words another way to alienate the biggest pool of talent nearby.

IU wins the game they needed to win to secure a spot in the tournament.

That makes the 4/5 game as Iowa/Purdue, with Illinois the 6 seed.

I think Purdue has to beat Iowa to get into the dance, and I think Illinois had to beat the 11 seed and a quarterfinal victory over Indiana to get in. I don't think another victory over the 11 will help much, and I think they are just barely out right now.

Penn State is definitely winnable, as is IU. They just have to piece it together for 40 whole minutes.

Agreed-I definitely think Illinois has a legitimate chance to do that (although for obvious reasons I hope they don't)-I also think Wisconsin is possibly vulnerable to the winner of IU/Illinois.

Michigan just choked away their NCAA chances against Ohio State with 2 stupid turnovers and a tipped rebound right into the hands of an OSU player that lead to an 8-0 run. Michigan had a 6 point lead with 3:30 left..

i cant remember an illinois team i liked less than this one.

it's really a marvel of human ingenuity that this team is in any position to get to the tourney at all. they can't score points, isn't that key in winning basketball games?

they have absolutely no players, bruce has done an outstanding job covering up the weaknesses on this team. now he just needs to recruit.

Damn it, the lack of consistency is galling with these referees. They're suddenly calling everything. ND up 57-50 thanks to Rutgers blowing the freebies the refs are giving them.

another team with the refs out to get them.... funny how nobody ever notices that the refs are boning over the team that their favorite team is playing against

It also helps when most of the Big Ten is terrible.

I don't know where you would get that-the Big 10 isn't awesome this year, but it is pretty good-Sagarin has them as the 4th best conference ahead of both the Big 12 and the Big East, and Conference RPI also has them as 4th ahead of both of those conferences. Most of the teams are certainly not terrible.

Funny how you failed to notice that I didn't say they were boning over my team. I was calling out the refs for calling stupid touch fouls...on both teams.

Very concerned about Wisconsin. Hoping for a one seed so they can coast to the Sweet 16.

I'm not sure that even then that they could coast. The lower seeds get better every year. For example, here are the current 8/9 seeds from one bracketologist:

8's: Oregon, Kentucky, Butler, Villanova

9's: Air Force, Georgia Tech, Xavier, Indiana

Those aren't easy teams to get by in the 2nd round. Wisconsin still would have a good chance of getting to the Sweet 16, but certainly not coasting. Obviously who those teams are in the 8/9 slot are going to change over the next week, but the same quality of teams will likely still be there.

Kentucky should be higher than an 8, imo. Considering they have the #1 SOS and #10 rpi, but I digress.

I'm fairly confident that the Badgers would beat the teams listed above. While I'm concerned by the scoring, they still play excellent defense and are careful (other than yesterday) with the ball. Coast was maybe a strong word.

Indiana vs Illinois one more time? I like it. 8-)

GO BIG RED!

Kind of concerned about IU, they fizzled down the stretch after beating Wisconsin at the midway mark. 6-2 start, 4-4 finish and some bad road losses. :?

Might want to size that pic down a little lol. Size does not matter I promise lol.
