I have no problem with Gordon changing his mind, but he and his father should've notified the coach you gave a verbal commitment to that you are opening up recruitment. My suspicion is that they knew what they were doing wasn't proper etiquette and just decided to say nothing. But it does beg the question, do recruits sign with the school or with the coach?

The reality is that most schools are so similar that top players like this really sign with a coach instead of a school. You're right though-Gordon and his dad had the responsibility of informing Weber. They were the ones who made the verbal committment, and they were the ones who re-opened the commitment. That was a mistake-the sad part is to see the fanatics in the UI fanbase make a mistake as well by doing things like threatening Gordon. No side is completely clean on this one unfortunately.

In this case, if he truly signed with the coach then why didn't he commit to OU while Sampson was there? Or even have OU on his top list? It's just my belief that Sampson or someone from his staff contacted Gordon after his verbal. From my understanding it's an unwritten rule to not contact players after they have made a verbal commitment.

It is in the big ten. That's where the controversy starts. KS also hired like three guys as coaches or film instructors with direct connections to Eric's family. The whole thing was pretty much disgusting for a guy who used to chair the ethics committee for the NCAA.

Jeff Meyer, longtime assistant coach and from Indiana. Yes he once coached Gordon's dad. Meyer was at Missouri last year.

I hope your not including Ray Macallum. He played against Gordon's dad growing up, also from Indiana. But he's been on KS staff at OU for a few years.

I don't think Sampson is clarvoyant.

Man Love can't be better than this kid.

I can't wait till this weekend, Love's game will be carried by Fox Sports. 43 points thus far sure is impressive, but Gordon and Love are different types of players.

Why your team is great right now, why do you care about a high school kid. :D

Great? Sure. But we still haven't won a championship since 1995 and definitely not since I enrolled at UCLA. And this team desperately needs a low post guy like Love.

Some kids like Gordon want to stay home. It was always Gordon's dream to go to IU, but they didn't like IU with Mike Davis at the helm. Once the coaches changed, Gordon took a second look-there could probably have been several coaches that Gordon would have signed on with in order to get the chance to get to IU.

As far as the contacting part? From the small amount of time that people have talked about it, it seems pretty clear now that it was the Gordons who initiated contact with Sampson shortly after he got the job.

They should have done this with Gordon vs. Rose. That would have been a game, this was a joke. Oh and MJ looks old, makes me feel old.

I had the same thought...

The chance of the team actually getting healthy at some point? But mostly the schedule The schedule is what makes me think they lose no more than 2 games. Half the games are against teams so bad they could lay a stinker and still win. There are 3 games against teams with RPIs in the top 150(at IU(13), home against UM(60), and at Iowa(95))

I think Illinois finishes out 6-1.

I really hope you are right. I guess you have more confidence than me. I really wish someone, anybody would tell Brian Randle that night in night out he's the best athlete on the floor. For the most part, our guard play has sucked. And injuries have no part in the number of turnovers we have and our poor free-throw shooting. I'm glad Izzo didn't start fouling with 2 minutes left on Tuesday or we might have lost that game.

I don't see how we win in Bloomington or Iowa City, though.

Quit arguing over who's got the bigger "$%".

Is this really the best team the state of Illinois has to offer?

See, that's why I hate games like this. Everybody has already forgotten that Simeon beat #1 Oak Hill. Plus, Loyola shouldn't be the #2 team in Illinois. Plus, I don't think it's a 40 point game on a neutral court.

Um why don't you try having your growing cut into then come back early. Then get the Pujols thing on your feet. Then I am gonna tell you to be athletic. He is hurt what do you expect from a guy who is hurt? He is giving us more than Wood or Prior have in their quarter seasons.

Oh we beat them by scoring more than them.

It was supposed to be in Chicago.

Maybe a 25 point game instead?

You're right about Randle, but I was saying this about him last year. He likely is only playing at 70% health, at best.

It's been hard for us to win in Iowa City and Bloomington with some of our good teams. I don't see this team winning in either place... again, I hope I'm wrong.

We have won 2 of the last 3 at both. It could happen. I think we get one of them.

Actually, I think three or four other Illinois high school teams would've been more competitive than Loyola.

Richwoods also comes to mind and also has Cole who ESPN ranked as number 81. If they are going to go with made for tv games though it had to be simeon.

Just out of curiosity, I don't think the injuries we currently have will heal up significantly over the next two-three weeks, so why do you think we can win at Iowa or Indiana but couldn't win at Ann Arbor, at Xavier or at MSU?

Because our guys are learning how to win on the road. Although these guys are sophs and juniors a lot of them didn't get much pt in the past. Warren Carter is really a sophomore with games logged. McBride a junior. Pruitt a Soph. You have to learn how to finish games. I also think Iowa is worse than all the teams you listed. Yes even Michigan who has the Amaker handicap.

Arizona losses again. This time to Washington State at home. Is that 5 straight losses?

They sandwiched a win against horrendous ASU for a 1-5 stretch. Before that they beat a horrendous Oregon St. team following a loss to WSU.

It's crazy that team is still #20 in one of the polls. They should be out for sure now.

Upset Watch - #10 Duke up 2 at UVA, 1 min left.

Duke-UVA to OT

regardless of their record and ranking this year, duke really doesn't impress me this year

Even though they beat IU when they played at Duke earlier in the season, they didn't impress me either. IU was really tight, and Duke still barely pulled out the victory. If it was anywhere but Cameron or later in the season, I don't think Duke would have won that game-they simply don't have enough offense this year.
