Illinois with a huge win as they defeat MSU 57-50.

This team desperately needs to work on their FT's though. My God, I don't think I've seen a team struggle at the line as much as these guys did tonight.

This was a huge win only because they haven't been able to "gut" it up and win other games. I'm still not convinced this team can win six out of the next eight or win a conference tourney game to get into the Big Dance. They still can't shoot, they turn the ball over too much and they can't hit free throws. I don't know why MSU didn't start fouling with two minutes left. It would've extended the game and given MSU more possessions since Illinois was only hitting around 50%. The free throw shooting is atrocious and I'm going to give the coaches the benefit of the doubt and assume they do practice free throw shooting a lot. I think the players are just not executing.

I heard some announcer say that this was a big win and I disagree. I big win would've been beating MSU at E. Lansing, beating Michigan at Ann Arbor, beating Purdue on the road, or beating OSU and/or Wisconsin at home. Illinois has yet to "steal" a win in the Big Ten. I would call that kind of a win a big win.

Illinois's remaining schedule

vs. Minnesota

at Northwestern

at Indiana

vs. Northwestern

vs. Michigan

at Penn St.

at Iowa

I'm not saying it's impossible for Illinois to lose 3 of those games(I assume you meant finish 9-7 when saying win 6 of their next 8), but it doesn't look very likely to me.

Bruce Weber stated they need to win 6 of their last eight (including tonight's game) to get an invite to the dance. I think they need to go 6-1 in their last seven. Even if they finish 9-7 in the conference, they will likely lose their first round Big Ten conference tourney game and I think they wouldn't get invited if that happens.

I'm an IU fan, I don't like U of I, if you want to disregard my opinion because of that, feel free to do so. Unless U of I starts putting it together I think they lose at NU, and IU, and at Iowa. Unless you are UW or OSU road wins are still really tough in this conference.

I don't disregard a fan's opinion just because they root for another team than my favorite team. Based on what you wrote, you were agreeing with my feelings toward Illinois right now. Although I wouldn't rule out a loss at PSU as well. This will be the first time in many, many, many years that I won't be sad to see the seniors leaving on senior night. I really don't like this team much.

I didn't mean you personally by "you", I just have been in enough arguments in this thread to know what was coming if I didn't include that first sentence. Who are the U of I seniors?

Carter, McBride, and Marcus Arnold(Praise Jesus) are the seniors.

Lately we have finished strong. However, those years we were much more talented. We need to just win one at a time and not assume any road wins.

i think arnold, mcbride, and carter are the only seniors. it seems like carter has only played for a season or two- a redshirt might have helped earlier in his career.

You Illini fans would know about these guys better than me, but Carter always struck me as a guy who never lived up to what he could have been, but has been a very solid player anyway. McBride probably hurts the Illini as much as he helps, and Arnold is a non factor, so it seems like Carter is the only real loss.

carter has been completely worthless until this season. i'd hate to see our record if last years carter was playing this year. the thing about losing only 2 medicore players is all that experience returning- next year has to be better.

That reminds me of what they say about Indiana football every year. We have 10 defensive starters returning. Yeah, but we have 10 defensive starters returning.

so, the defense wasnt any better the next year? UI is not going to be contending for a title anytime soon, thats not what i'm saying. experience only does so much. but if this team has enough talent to be .500 in the B10, then next year's fares to be at least better. i believe we have at least 1 impact freshman next year, which should be helpful.

At Indiana, the football defense never gets better. I'm sure U of I will be a little better next year, for whatever that's worth.

Now on to tonight's main attraction. #25 Indiana hosts #2 Wisconsin at 6 central. The latest line I have seen is an even money pick 'em. This game is NOT on national TV (ESPN+). The Hoosiers shoot well at home, and they'll need to hit their threes tonight as UW has a huge size advantage. If DJ stays out of foul trouble, and the threes fall at a reasonable rate, I think UW will pick up their first Big Ten loss of the season.

Greg Oden will play tonight. He was at one of his best friends' funeral this morning in Terre Haute.

The best friend was a Ball State freshman golfer that was killed in a car accident on Saturday night. :(

SIU hosts Indiana State tonight. Last time they came to C'Dale, they beat SIU, which ended the longest homecourt streak in the nation. Hopefully we don't overlook them again this season.

Mizzou-Kansas State tonight. Time for some redemption. If we can take this, we should be 16-6 (5-4) going into the Kansas game at home.

Don't count on redemption. I'd bet the Fred is packed, and I can't wait to see what the students have in store for Hannah. Should be entertaining. Sucks that the game is at 9 pm ET. I would like it to be earlier. Screws up my drinking schedule.. :)

Color me not a fan of SIU being a 6 and ND a 7 in this week's Bracketology.

Also, Ball State beat ISU. You don't want the embarrassment of losing to a BSU victim...

Alando Tucker made some comment about how he likes to play at IU because the fans all wear red like at the Kohl Center. So a few IU students tried to throw together a "White Out" in the last 3 days that is not being endorsed or aided by the Athletic Department. So when you turn on ESPN+ in 35 minutes, expect to see a poorly executied White-Out in Bloomington. Oh well, it'll be loud anyway.

GO IU!
