looking at a draft site...

http://www.nbadraft.net/

They have the Bulls taking Nicolas Batum....who the heck is that? Pick doesn't make sense considering we got Thabo last draft.....They have Noah falling pretty far....not really a fan of his game, but he would have to be considered if around when the Bulls are up.

Not sure I agree with it either, though I will say if all the top big men are gone there would be little use overpaying a mediocre player just for height.

I believe Batum is a top prospect coming out of Europe this year.....thought I heard someone saying he's got potential, but can't remember. I don't keep up on the international game.

Few draft sites take team needs into account in their mock drafts this early.

The Bulls need an inside presence. Besides Oden and picking up Garnett or Gasol, who can give them that?

Tyrus will in a year or two. Deng's working on improving his post play as well. Meanwhile, the Bulls have second best record in the east at present without that inside presence.

On espn.coms draft/lottery thing, I was flipping through it and the Bulls won the number pick once and the second pick like 5 times. They have a 2.8% chance of winning it. If the Knicks can get to fifth, that would give them an 8.8% chance. This is huge.

Well, the Blackhawks won the NHL lottery as the 5th worst team. Maybe the Bulls will have the same fate

If the Bulls won the lottery, Oden is a no brainer...I'm curious what they would do if they won the 2nd pick though.....I really don't think you can pass on Kevin Durant, but he basically plays the same position as Loul Deng. So what do you do?

Keep both Durant and Deng, trade one of them? ...I'm babling, this is pointless...odds are the pick will be b/t 8-10.

This is a joke right?

Kevin Durant could outplay Luol Deng right now. Let alone in two years when he is a legit 30 point a night guy who can actually break his man down on the dribble.

While that may be true, Luol Deng is pretty close to becoming a star. He's already a very solid player and he's still going to get a lot better. They want to stretch his shot out to the 3 point line this summer. You are going to see a very scary Luol Deng next year.

That said, if the Bulls somehow managed to win the 2nd pick, I'd try to swing a deal with whoever wins Number 1 to get Oden. If that isn't possible, take Durant or possibly trade the pick (and high salary...Ben Wallace?) for KG.

I don't there is any way you can pass up Durant. None. Deng will always be limited by his ball handling. Durant could be the next McGrady only with a healthy back.

If limited means 19ppg and 7rpg, while shooting .519% from the field and playing solid defense as a 21/22 year old, I'll take it. Yeah, Durant can be VERY good, but Luol already is. Both are solid, young players that I would love to have on the team. Let's just hope the Knicks continue to slide and we get a little lucky...oh yeah, and win the eastern conference championship this year.

On the flip side Deng is much better inside vs. Durant. Does Durant have a higher ceiling? No doubt. But he hasn't proven anything in the NBA. Deng is an established 19 and 7 guy who is only getting better.

Nope. If we get a top two pick, I don't want a guy in the wrong side of his career. I'm a huge KG fan, but I'm not giving up Oden/Durant for him. If you don't give me LBJ, Kobe, Wade, or Duncan, you're not getting our pick. Oden and Durant are going to become elite players in the league.

That is true, and I'd probably not do the deal. I just can't help but think KG on this team (without losing Deng, Gordon, Hinrich, Noc, Thabo, TT, etc...) makes us favorites to win the East and possibly favorites over Dallas, Pheonix, and San Antonio.

Durant might do that for us too, but probably not as a rookie.

I don't think you can facilitate a KG deal without one or two of the core guys being in it. Minnesota's asking price was pretty ridiculous from what I've heard. I don't think it's a secret that KG wants out of there because of how upset he is with management, but they're still going to try to get a real good deal out of it. I don't see Paxson trading Big Ben after we just signed him last offseason and I don't see Minnesota wanting Wallace either.

If we do end up with a top two pick, I'd be ecstatic with the team we'd have. Oden/Durant, Big Ben, Nocioni, Deng, Gordon, Hinrich, Thomas, and Thabo are your main guys. I'd say that team would be a good enough team to compete for several titles without having to make a trade. Of course, this is all premature thinking in that we win the lottery or get the second pick.

The Grizz wanted two of our core (think BG and Kirk) for Pau and he's only about as good as Deng. Imagine what Minny would want for KG, who is much better.

Yeah, haha. I think Minnesota would do the trade though. KG doesn't want to be there. IMO they'd put up with a few years of Ben Wallace if they get to draft Kevin Durant. However, like you said, it's hard to give up a chance to draft a young player with as much talent as Durant for a guy who's been around a while. All this probably doesn't matter, because I doubt the Bulls get a top 2 pick. Doesn't hurt to dream though.

You don't think they'd trade KG (who wants out) for a young stud like Durant? They obviously need to go in a new direction.

Never say never about that, especially considering that Toronto won the lottery last year with having the 4th worst record.

They'd take a pass on Gordon because Foye is probably going to become the same player.

But they'd push awfully hard for Deng AND Tyrus as well as a future draft pick. My attitude has definitely changed since the beginning of the season regarding KG. I wouldn't do it.

I think Durant could top that next season. As a 19 year old.

Deng's best years will be in the 23 and 7 range.

Durant's will be in the 33 and 9 range.

Deng is a very good role player, but he isn't a game changer that necessitates a double team. Durant can be that guy who does everything Deng does, but better in addition to driving the lane and drawing 10-15 ft's a game.

Deng's much better than a role player. Your point, however, is made. I would love Durant on this team as well.

Yeah, but right now, Durant has the body of a 12 yr old boy. Durant "physically" isn't ready to play heavy minutes in the NBA, right now. And to be honest, I am more then satisifed having a Deng/Thomas/Noce (<----if he re-signs) at the forwards spot. And as much as I love Durant's game, I much rather have Greg Oden. Give Oden two yrs behind Wallace, and Oden jumps Amare/Bosh/Howard as the best young big man in the NBA.

With that said, I wouldn't be disappointed in getting Durant. With that said....considering the Knicks season has gone, the Bulls will most likely land the pick in the 7-12 range. Considering this draft, that not's a BAD thing considering who COULD be available. Guys like Hibbert/Noah/Hawes will be available.

Interesting to note:

http://nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/joakimnoah.html

First: the compare Noah to Chandler but with a "higher basketball IQ."

Second:

Thanks to his aggressive play, Noah does a good job of drawling fouls from the opposition … Tough minded kid who possess a warrior attitude in that he loves to compete and never backs down from physical play … Is a great rebounder who understands how to use his frame and long arms
