And it just keeps getting better:

After the game tonight, Pat Riley stated in a post-game interview that Kirk Hinrich “pulled [Wade’s] hand” and caused the wrist injury. Said Riley, "He does this all the time. It's his cheap way of playing defense."

Upon hearing this, Hinrich just rolled his eyes and shrugged off the accusation. “I wasn’t in any way trying to hurt him… I was chasing him off the screen and then there’s contact. I don’t know if he got tangled up or whatever, and then he started grabbing his hand.”

He then added, “I can’t worry about Pat Riley… I can’t really comment.”

I think, for once, this is acceptable:

Yeah, Pat. I bet that's why Posey took him out in the playoffs last season...because Hinrich does it "all the time."

Oh, ESPN mentioned the Wade injury and the Riley comment, didn't mention a thing about what Posey did.

I know its bad to say, but I hope Wade is out for an extended period of time so that joke of a franchise can't make the playoffs.

Deng is going to get XRays on his wrist from that cheap shot by Posey. He said something like "I hope its not as bad as I think it is"

Isn't that the same wrist he broke 2 years ago? That's the first thing I thought of when he hit the floor.

Here's hoping he's okay.

And Riley can go scratch. His teams have always been cheap shot specialsts.

Yes it is the same wrist. KC Johnson's article this morning says that Deng's wrist is 'sprained', which is a damn relief. Let's just hope it doesn't become a lingering issue for Luol

Coming in to work though, the radio report was that Deng still needed X-rays, and was concerned.

I really hope it's just a sprain. Posey should be banned from the league. He's openly trying to hurt players. He took Hinrich out of the playoffs----heck, the Heat might not even have beaten us without Posey's thuggish BS. Now he's at it again?

Come on, something's got to be done.

Is this the same Pat Riley who coached two of the three dirtiest and most physical teams (the Knicks and Heat of the 90's) in history? The same guy who employed Anthony Mason (twice), John Starks, Xavier McDaniel, Charles Oakley, Doc Rivers (underrated for his dirty play), and other assorted goons?

His attempt to blame Hinrich (probably the least dirty player in the league) for Wade's wrist injury was laughable. Does he see the Bulls as that big of a threat to his team in the playoffs that he needs to start this kind of crap in December?

If the league doesn't suspend Posey for multiple games, there's a problem. There's now an established pattern of behavior from this guy over the pasy 9 months. 3 different players on the Bulls have taken blatent cheap shots, and 2 were injured.

I'm really disappointed that nobody on the team did anything about it. Somebody should have knocked Posey's block off.

The game was too close at that point.

Pax was on the Score and said that he is confident that Deng is fine, but then said that Deng is doubtful for tomorrows game. I hope he can play Saturday, I'd like to see him beat up on the Cavs.

Yeah, and notice who Riley ordered to have injured. Not Hinrich, but Deng.

Deng's a threat. That's why Riley tried to take him out.

I don't think this was a Riley order to take out Deng in particular. Deng was going up, Posey saw an opportunity.

I'm just telling you guys what I would have done. Posey didn't get ejected right away either if any of the teammates wanted to do something they had plenty of time to do so.

I do. This is a pattern with Riley. He gave Posey the go-ahead at first opportunity.

Obviously I can't prove it. But we're not in a court of law. I believe Riley orders hits on players.

I'm not saying Riley wasn't behind it, I'm saying "The List" of guys was not just Deng.

He didn't play another minute. Are you suggesting some member of the Bulls should have jumped on him right then during the break in the action and gotten suspended for 15+ games? I don't see any value in that.

Yeah, I don't think viscerally going and decking Posey does anything except divert attention from what Posey did in the first place. There's no good to be gained by getting yourself suspended.

Keep in mind the Bulls and Heat play again in Chicago on Jan 27th. I'm sure someone going through the lane might take a hard foul, and that should be enough.

Definitely not.

No reason to get our guys suspended. That would have made Riley even more happy.

I'm glad our players didn't give in to that kind of thuggish behavior.

David Stern better take action ASAP. THe problem with the NBA is they let crap like this stir, then when it manifests itsself into a full fledged brawl, they wonder why.

Impossible to say. I just found it very telling that Hinrich was not retaliated against, yet was singled out by Riley after the game. Hmmm....

So then he orders a retaliation on the one Bulls player who is starting to make headlines as a possible all-star, the one player who offers an inside scoring threat and can score from the most places on the court, huh?

Interesting. Instead of straight up retaliation on Hinrich, why not kill two birds with one stone and go after the one player who you fear the most?

Can't prove any of this, of course. Just seems possible, and knowing Riley over the years I wouldn't put it past him.

I'm sure he won't.

Paxson said on the radio today (WSCR) that he's spoken with the league and expects that Posey will be dealt with.

Also, did anyone catch when, on the post game show, Kendall Gill offered to sign with the team on a 10-day contract just to deal with Posey the next time we face the Heat?

Hinrich's "cheap" play on Wade was a subject of discussion on ESPN's 1st and 10. Of course, Skip Bayless, being the Chicago hater that he is says that Hinrich should be at least fined, if not suspended, and that Kirk is known for being a dirty player. Absolutely no mention of the Posey play on Deng. Once again, nice job by ESPN to not mention important facts in stories.
