John Paxson is the best GM in this city by a wide, wide margin.

I love the way Pax does it. I've had faith in him for a couple of years now. Angelo has had some really good moves but delaying on getting a backup QB and other stuff were always perplexing. I still consider him a good GM though.

Paxson has made it a point to draft players who are used to winning. I would rather take a good player from a winning program than a better player from a losing program, if that makes sense. Draft history:

Kirk Hinrich - Kansas (Final 4)

Luol Deng/Chris Duhon - Duke (Always winning)

Tyrus Thomas - LSU (Final 4)

Ben Gordon - UConn (National Champs)

and so on

Great news. I'll admit, I would've been a bit worried if this deal didn't get done. Milwaukee was making it clear that they would use their $14 million in the offseason on Hinrich and I don't really know if we would've matched that. Thankfully we don't have to worry about that anymore :D

Pax for President.

I love what Pax is doing as well. He's not just building a team --- he's building one that appears to be a perfect fit for his coach. And that coach & he share the same philosophy right down to the bone. It all looks very good.

On Angelo: he took a ton of heat over his handling of the QB situation, but if he hadn't, we might never have found out that Grossman could play in this league. All of the good vets who could have been brought in, like Jake Plummer---demanded essentially that we give up on Grossman. Angelo wasn't willing to do that, and for that he got lambasted in this town. I'll put Angelo & Pax on the same level right now.

Angelo has been pretty fantastic too, but Paxson is excellent...who knew when he was draining that 3 in Phoenix (my favorite Bulls play of all time) that he'd be building the franchise back into contention like this.

I don't think Paxson is better than Angelo by a "wide margin" though.

In Pax I trust. Love how Paxson asked him to take less so he could keep try and keep the core together and Kirk accepted. Not many players would do that IMO.

Why does it say King Jong Il is a Bulls fan?

Kim Jong Il Likes The Bulls

Though it's not part of the NBA's advertising campaign, it's widely known around the league office that North Korean leader Kim Jong Il is an avid NBA fan with a preference for the Bulls. His sons have been spotted wearing Bulls jerseys on their regulation courts at the presidential palace. -- Chicago Tribune

Yeah, but in all fairness to Kim, the TV feeds are a little slow and he doesn't realize Michael Jordan has retired.

I just wanted to say good luck to the Bulls this year. I think the Bulls and the Pacers have two of the deepest teams in the NBA this year (the Pacers actually had to cut a very promising rookie, James White out of UC because they were so deep) and I know it will be a great battle in the Central. The Central will probably get at least 4 teams out of the 8 that make the playoffs (Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Indiana)-that's pretty impressive. Again, good luck, and I can't wait until the two teams get to face off this year.

HINRICH EXTENDED 5 YEARS, 42 MILLION! (per ESPN Insider)

I love that deal.

OLD NEWS (per this thread)

;)

And that figure is 5.5M short of the actual total.
