If Piniella goes to the Yankees, I may very well do backflips!

But that could very well lead to Joe Torre taking Piniella's place in Hendrys plan. I dont know which one is worse for the Cubs to hire, Torre or Piniella. Both of them are not good managers.

I bet Torre retires.

Ill say it once and say it again..its all about good pitching...whats a lineup like the Yankees good for when your going against the best pitching staff in the majors...Nothing... Goodbye Torre

Exactly. If they are gonna spend all that money, get 4 #1 starters.

You can assemble the best offensive lineup in baseball, but on any given night they can get shut down by good pitching, its that simple.

and your #1 starter can get beat up by a good lineup on any given night. it's that simple.

I agree. And if he doesn't retire, I do expect him to take a year off.

Thats the thing that worries me Steinbenner is going to be on mission this off season driving up the price on these players to a ridiculous level. I'm happy they lost but this could be bad news for any hope of the Cubs getting Zito or Schmidt.

But it could be good news for the Cubs' chances of getting Rodriguez.

And Hendry should be located at the nearest bar, trying to drown out his sorrows of losing Piniella.

I don't know about that. Don't the Krispy Kreme shops stay open late?

I don't think he's using anymore. Krispy Kreme has tumbled to 8.47 per share. Down from over $12 in mid-May. The withdrawal must be really bad, no?

Good, yankees please sign sweet lou, and send us a-rod :)

Like mentioned before though, the Yankees will now jack up the price on Zito and Schmidt

I'm also hearing reports if Lou is in, Arod will stay. Lou and Arod supposedly had a good relationship in Seattle.

A'S A'S A'S A'S

Untarp the upper deck, please.

Free Mt. Davis!

They should definitely open it up.

I doubt they would fill it.

Doesn't matter. Not seating people in the third deck and Mount Davis cuts over 20000 seats from the capacity. Even if they only sell 40000 tickets (which would be 10000 under capacity) that's still 5000 more people coming into the stadium. Do you realize how much revenue they would be losing from tickets, parking, merchandise, and food by limiting the number of people that can attend the baseball game? They are stupid to not open up those sections. And 5000 people would probably be a low estimate.

You don't think they can fill up Mt. Davis for 5 pm (primetime) ALCS games?

They definitely could but I'm not sure if they would completely sell out. In 2003, the A's had 2 night games against Boston at home and drew 50606 and 49397 fans in Games 1 and 5 respectively. They didn't have a primetime game against Minnesota in 2002. In 2001 against New York they drew 55861 fans in Game 3 (the only primetime game). In 2000, they drew 47360, 47860, and 41170 fans in primetime games against the Yankees.

Obviously though, the ALCS is different from the ALDS especially for A's fans that have seen their team advance to the playoffs from 2000-2003 but get eliminated in the ALDS all four times. I think the A's should open up Mt. Davis and the third deck. Would they sell 55000 tickets? I don't know. But I feel confident in saying they would get at least 45000.

Thats a very good point. Theres also the fact that they have so many horrible contracts and they're building a new stadium, I'm not sure they can afford any more ridiculous contracts.
