I dont think you can assume he flip-floped because he said he hopes to win the World Series. That doesnt really go against "We will win the world series"... It's just another way of saying it.

It shouldnt really matter when they signs Girardi, as long as they DO sign Girardi.

I'm sure they have had some time of baseball experience in terms day to day baseball operations.

This guy has done nothing but scalp tickets and peddle beanie babies in the

Cubs organization.

I know most of us are frustrated and wallowing in negativity, but Christ, man...do you ever let this schtick up?

Maybe when they make a move in the right direction.

Well see when that happens.

They took a step foward with Dusty, but stepped back by annointing

a president with no tatical baseball knowledge(admit by McDonough himself)

How many team presidents have "baseball" experience? MacPhail and his prev. experience as GM was the exception rather than the norm.

I'd like to see a list of team presidents that moved

from having 0 tactical baseball operations experience, straight up

to the role of team president.

We hope to win a word series...I thought we were gonna on sunday

.

Dusty said we'd win one too. Saying "we're going to win a world series is pointless. He'd just have people like you calling him out and say oh yeah MCDUMMY, how you gonna win it with donut eating bacon grease boy as GM eating krispy kremes all day while eating garbage that even tubby glendon rusch threw out even though he's so fat.

Jerry Reinsdorf, if you want to go by proximity 1st.

Well when you buy a team you can pretty much do whatever you

want. But techinally that does count so I'll credit that one.

But for the most part most team presidents who operate under an owner,

get the role because they have some type of general knowledge of the game of baseball.

I know it's not supposed to be funny, but dammit I can't stop laughing.

I agree it's pointless to say we will win one.

I think the statement of we hope to win one is better.

But I said I was troubled with his flipping back and forth.

So why on the day you got your gig are you pufffing your chest making

all of these guarentees?

He is a snake oil saleman folks. It is so obvious.

Playoff Presidents:

A's: Michael Crowley

Cardinals: Mark Lamping

Dodgers: Jamie McCourt

Mets: Saul Katz

Padres: Dick Freeman

Tigers: Dave Dombrowski

Twins: Dave St. Peter

Yankees: Randy Levine

Tell me a little something about these guys baseball backgrounds.

You want a similar situation...

Terry McGuirk-Atlanta Braves

Alphabetical order...

AZ-Kendrick

Balt-Angelos

Luccino-Boston

Castenelli-Cincy

Cubs

White Sox

etc.

I'm surprised you're playing this game with him. Some just want to criticize just to criticize.

I don't know what kind of working experience you've had, but all you have to do as a president of a baseball team is surround yourself with good people who make good baseball decisions and then the president can just take care of the business side of the team. That's ideally how things should go.

I still would love to hear one Cub GM or President pronounce, "Any season where we aren't contending for the NL Central Division will be considered a failed season." Then back that up with good decisions and you can set a good culture of expectations for winning. I hate the Cardinals but that is something they've seen to have over the Cubs over the decades. Players go there with an expectation of winning. I don't think that happens with the Cubs.

Crowley was a team VP before becoming president, while Freeman works under Alderson who knows a thing or 2 about the game.

Dombrowski helped build some powerhouses in Montreal in the early 90's

Also consider the overall situation of the Cubs.

Someone needs to be auditing this entire operation.

From the majors to the minors. Do they understand the issues the Cubs

have in the minors outside of some nice young arms.

Lack of position players.

Fundementals.

Injuries at every level.

Who is gonna take action and change this?

McDonough?

Well that leaves many more that haven't had baseball experience doesn't it?

That's the GM's job. Just like it was when MacPhail was around.

Is this model working for us? Should we look for a new road?

I think we should. Heck, even some fresh blood from outside tribune

would even be a better option.

It's like impeaching Bush...is Cheney any better?

Or impeaching Clinton?.....ya like Gore?

I just can't agree with brining someone from in house to fix this.

Wait, the Cubs just tried a new road, they dumped a president with baseball knowledge for one without.

He does own the internet.

seriously man the negativity has got stop. Give they guy a chance before you bash him. If someone can be a successful leader of the marketing department their is no reason he can't be a quality leader for the team. A President needs to surround himself with good people, if he does that all he has to do is lead them. McDonough seems to have succeeded in one thing so there is no reason to assume he cannot in another.

If what you are saying is true why do major corporations hire people form different corporations. My uncle was president of a major liquor company and then got hired to run Slazenger/Maxfli. Those two things are not related, he was just a good businessman. The Cubs are a business. All business is related to one another.

PS. If you are going to be this optimistic please don't monopolize the board. Make your pessimistic comment and leave it at that. Don't try to ruin it for everyone else. That ain't cool.

If you have a problem with my opinion then don't respond.

I have every right to voice my opinion considering this organization that

has treated its fans like garbage.

I don't have to give the guy a chance. I don't trust anyone from the tribune company.

Then bring in a guy from outside the Tribune. Alot of times companies look to someone from the outside to straighten things out.

Actually, I usually respond to opinions I do have a problem with.

I'm not sold on McDonough, but I'm going to give him benefit of the doubt for the time being.

Your crticisms might carry more merit if you made them without the hyperbole and insults.

Right now, reading your posts remind me more of what it must have been like if Archie Bunker was a Cubs fan.
