I'm looking at this thing, and honestly what's to watch?

You've got the Yanks. OK, they're legit.

Then you have the Tigers, who couldn't beat the Royals in the final weekend to save their division title. They wouldn't be a playoff team most years.

The Twins did everything they could to blow it in the final two series as well. They'd be an also ran most seasons.

The A's might be legit----but I'm thinking this is one of the weakest A's playoff teams ever.

That's 1 American league team that is a legitimate playoff team. And that's the *GOOD* league.

National League is, of course, a joke. The Cardinals are incredibly bad for a playoff team. Neither the Dodgers or the Padres are legit. Only the Mets could be said to be an actual playoff caliber ballclub, but their pitching staff is pretty banged up. I doubt they would have held on in other seasons. It's just that literally the entire rest of the league is complete junk.

The fact that the wild card team came from the West tells you all you need to know.

What's the point? This is the worst group of playoff teams I've ever seen in over 30 years of watching baseball. It'll be Yanks/Mets---and that's going to be a snore.

I have a hard time seeing the Mets go to the WS given their playoff rotation is going to look something like Hernandez-Glavine-Trachsel-Maine.

That's just plain ugly.

It's too bad the Cubs were not in the AL, they might have lost 110 games.

I was thinking that too. Then sometime in August I woke up one day and said to myself, "you know, the AL kind of stinks too. Both leagues do!"

We probably would have lost another 5-6 games.

I want to hear the talking heads who were trashing the NL this year if an NL team wins it all.

Hopefully they would be smart enough to determine that a 7 game series doesn't make one team definitively better than another team.

Which would lead to the determination that maybe all the mystique with the playoffs being where the best and clutchiest shine through is all nonsense.

This postseason is eminently more watchable than last season's slice of hell.

The filthy bastards stole last year's playoff from me. I'm glad I'll be able to enjoy this one.

It's all a conspiracy to discredit Derek Jeter

I really think you have to like the Dodgers chances. They have Brad Penny, who is great if he can keep his cool. Derek Lowe, who has the potential to pitch very well and has post season experience and then you've got Maddog who is liable to come up with a gem at just about any time. If they can score a few runs I see no reason why they shouldn't be the favorite in the NL.

Of course. You've got to like ANYONE's chances. Because there's no good teams out there that anyone can have confidence in to dominate.

I'll bet the odds makers are in hell right now, LOL.

Who can say they've got the upper hand? Certainly not in the NL. All those teams are basically sitting at home watching most years.

You know, I like parity. I really do. But there's two kinds of parity: good parity, and bad parity.

This is bad parity.

I actually thought the playoffs would be quite good this year.

I guess I just feel better about baseball now that I don't have to suffer through a Cubs game again until April.

Although I really shouldn't talk. I don't think I've watched/listened to a full game since they tanked back in May.

I think the AL's cumulative 154-98 record against the NL in interleague play this year holds more weight than a seven game series between one team from each league when determining which League was better this year. Arguing the WS determines which league is better is almost as bad as saying the All Star game determines which league is better. As far as I'm concerned, the AL was a far better league this year.

I didn't say anything like that, look at the following post I made.
