Dusty won't be back.

Of course he will.

Man that will be a fun day on here.

Over/under on how many will resign their fanship?

13? 20?

Nah we will always love the cubs, we may just not watch as much as we used to.

If Dusty was coming back, I'm pretty sure Dusty would be getting hyped up in these sessions with the media.

That'll be Hendry's job tomorrow?

I just can't see how they can hire a manager for longer than the GM, and it sounds like Hendry is really really on the block for next year.

Towers is likely gone at the end of the year. He hasn't been too involved this season and is ready to move on similar to Bochy

I'm not high on Towers, personally. I'd rather Depodesta.

They're both big upgrades, though.

WOW, defintely not me. Towers is such a better GM. Deposdesta is so overrated it isn't funny.

I don't know you can give a guy one year to install a plan that should take 3 years and say he was terrible.

True but the fact that he seemed to have no coherent plan ever in that year amkes it an easy evaulation. Being in LA and seeing some of the non national news (the everyday stuff) has led me to this belief. He switched plans more often then anyone and his relations with the fans/media are worse then Hendry

Idiot caller on WGN radio wonders "where is the love for the game?"

Yes, that's the problem with this franchise, they don't love the game enough.

What exactly would that even mean? If Augie Ojeda really has that love and Miguel Cabrera really doesn't at the end of the day MC's team is still gonna be better off without the love.

It didn't help that Bill Plaschke had it in for him, either.

It is hard, imo, to use a plan like that in a major market because they always want to win at all costs. They all live in the now. He would have been better served in Kansas City where he would have been given sometime and space.

good question bruce!

What was the question?

He asked if Mchwhatever if he was going to focus on buisness or baseball.

This is one we won't have to wait months for to find out the answer.

You could tell most of the media here hated him.

Hendry is probably reasoning at this point that since the fans already got their sacrificial lamb in MacPhail, it's safe to bring Dusty back.

Nah, that would just negate what just happened. Dusty gone tomorrow.

McDonough seemed clueless about overseeing a baseball team. This will be interesting.

At least he knows winning is a good goal to have. He sure sounded a marketing dude.

I haven't read the whole thread as I've been watching football.

Based on some of the comments, my guess is Hendry is given one year to turn it around. If he fails this offseason, he will be gone. It will be interesting to see how this affects his decisions.

It will be interesting to see where he goes with his choice of manager. I fear he will look for a "winner" and go with Piniella.

Yeah, I know the media hates him (look at Plashke), but he was doing an okay job. The big market killed him (like illiniguy mentioned). That team, with some minor tinkering, was going to win this year.

If Hendry is retained, I'm not sure this makes a huge difference. I'm not sure how Hendry is dodging responsibility here.

MacPhail falling on the sword just greases the skids for Dusty's two year extension.

And we now have a marketing guy running the Cubs? LOL...just when you thought it couldn't get any worse it does. Welcome to Cubdom...land of losing.
