My only hope after the trade was that Izturis would come in and suck so bad, Hendry would consider a trade in the offseason. Now that he's been injured Hendry has to let him proove himself next year.

By the way, not only can Hendry not get a prospect from Maddux, from one of the deepest farm systems in the league, but he can't even find someone healthy.

If we were going to trade Maddux for a sucky all-glove, no hitting role playing middle infielder, at least we could have asked for one that wasn't injury prone. You'd think he'd have had enough with injury prone players on the roster. I'm beginning to think Hendry is going out of his way to load us up with guys who can't play every day, unless they fall into that category of players that you don't want healthy enough to go out there every day, like Neifi or JuanP.

There's always a chance, howver small, that Hendry will trade Izturis this offseason because he's been hurt seemingly ever since he arrived in Chicago.

I don't care if they trade him... I never remember he's even on the team anyway.

i agree, its like we just lost Maddux and got nuthin but a guy who sits on the DL.

The Cubs shortstop will spend the final week of the season nursing his strained right hamstring and won't return for the final nine games. He has a dark purple bruise on his right leg.

"It's a strained muscle, and I've got a big bruise back there," Izturis said. "I don't think I'll be playing any more this year. I just want to come back healthy."

I find it really disturbing that a strained hammy caused a purple bruise. Has anyone here ever heard of such of a thing? It certainly doesn't inspire confidence. I had a horrible hammy episode early this year and I would've been scared to death if my leg had turned purple from it.

you'll remember when he makes 650 outs next year.

Hey, I'm damn happy about it. Now I can enjoy the game on the 30th, without having to watch him be a scrub.

A guy I played softball with a few years ago had a big bruise on the back of his leg after hurting his hamstring. If it's injured badly enough, bruising can happen.

Yeah. You'll get to watch Bynum, Cedeno, and Blanco instead. .

For less than half the price.

Crappy ballplayers annoy me... Crappy expensive ballplayers infuriate me.

Were there any truth to reports that the Dodgers were willing to give us Matt Kemp?

I doubt it and I really hope that wasn't true.

I can already see it, midway through 2007, the Cubs are struggling, Izturis has been on and off the DL a couple times. And Hendry says, "It's not an excuse, but injuries have really affected what we have been able to do this year." The only question is what word would the next manager (please be a next manager) use in place of "horses" when describing those injured players.

Right after the Maddux trade Hendry said the Dodgers had been offering 2 high level prospects. Were those names ever revealed?

No, and according to numerous sources such an offer was never on the table.

What numerous sources were those? Hendry himself went on WGN and said that he was offered 2 high level prospects, and there were also rumors about the Cubs getting a good prospect for Maddux prior to the deal.
