The Yankees should rid themselves of this guy. Perhaps trade him to the Cubs.

And, before any of you criticize me for this idea, just remember that I'm real good looking and other people are paid a lot and have bad ideas as well.

Heh. That would solve the shortstop problem wouldn't it? Oh yeah, A-Rod also plays third base; there could be an opening there. You never know.

Aram for Arod and callup Moore???

The Yankees wouldn't need to trade Arod for Aram though...they can wait till Aram opts out and just sign him outright if they wanted him, then trade Arod for even more.

That fits better with what I want. Cubs resign Aram, trade a bunch of people for Arod and play him at short. If it'll help, I'll promise him I won't boo if I'm at the game and he makes a bad play.

THis whole thing stinks of sour grapes. Giambi is an admitted cheater who bumbled his way through an entire season. So b/c he's one of the boys he gets a free pass in the clubhouse? Carl Pavano ad Jaret Wright have stolen money from the Yankees the last two years. Randy Johnson has been a shell of his former self.

Yeah, ARod seems to be an egomaniac and a narcicist. But so was Jordan, and A Rod's probably the best hitter of his generation; Jordan with the bat. So now he's having his first "off" year (if that's how you wish to look at it), and the whole organization is closing ranks on him? Jeter and co. seem jealous to me.

I love it, and really hope they trade him for 50c on the $1.

It would be a shame for baseball if the Yankees fans and clubhouse sabotage the career of one of the greatest players of a generation.

He should be traded to the Cubs and do it himself. :P

Cubs infield 2007:

C Michael Barrett

1B Derrek Lee

2B Alfonso Soriano

SS A-Rod

3B A-Ram

I'd buy that for a dollar!

I think that at that point you could get away with a crappy outfield O.

Hell, with Arod at short, we could even afford to see if Theriot can play 2b.

Seriously, let Theriot play 2B and leadoff for all I care.

Theriot

Murton

Arod

Lee

Ramirez

Barrett

Jones/Platoon

Pie (or a stopgap CF)

I just re-read the article to be sure I get the theme here - ARod is a bad guy b/c he's unequivocally the best player of his generation (makes Jeter look like Phil Rizzuto), but he's self-motivating, shy, mecurial, and considerate ofthe press? What am I missing here? The main criticism seems to be that he is insincere and a "phony".

But the ringleader sure isn't a phony, is he? I mean, Giambi didn't admit to using steroids during the best years of his career or anything like that, right?

D'oh!

And Jeter's stats stand up against the great shortstops against whom he is constantly compared, right? Baseballreference.com says that these are the most comporable:

Ray Durham (844)

Arky Vaughan (841) *

Travis Jackson (829) *

Alvin Dark (824)

Vern Stephens (823)

Tony Lazzeri (817) *

Bill Madlock (817)

Lou Boudreau (813) *

Jackie Robinson (807) *

Jay Bell (805)

Double d'oh!

And all of these guys like Giambi, Mussina, Sheff, etc. are true Yankees; all of them conjuring memories of Luis Sojo with their league minimum salaries and WS rings....

Triple d'oh!

Please shut the hell up and play ball.

Quick question, who exactly are we trading to get ARod? You have give up something to get him.

Exactly. I'm sure they would take Carlos Zambrano for him.

Meanwhile, the Cubs would be trading away their best pitcher and getting a guy who would consume a quarter of the team's payroll.

Thanks, but no thanks.
