We really shouldn't be so harsh on Giambi. Having your nuts shrivel to the size of bb's can make a man go crazy.

You know, I actually empathized with him when he came clean (forcibly of course), but nowthat he is back to being his old, arrogant and judgmental self, I say screw him.

Hell, with Arod at short, we could even afford to see if Theriot can play 2b.

Seriously, let Theriot play 2B and leadoff for all I care.

Quick question, who exactly are we trading to get ARod? You have give up something to get him.

Exactly. I'm sure they would take Carlos Zambrano for him.

Meanwhile, the Cubs would be trading away their best pitcher and getting a guy who would consume a quarter of the team's payroll.

Thanks, but no thanks.

The Cubs wouldn't be taking on $25m per yer, Texas has already eaten a huge chunk of that, and NYY would eat another chunk. And I'd bet you could get him for less than Zambrano, if he became available at all.

I would trade Zambrano for ARod if NY ate some salary.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be ARod is a lightning rod not bolt? I thought maybe the Chargers had signed him.

ARod isn't getting moved. The author of that article was just on ESPN and flat out said it wouldn't happen.

It's nice to dream, but it isn't going to happen.

So Tom Verducci (the author) knows whether or not ARod is going to demand a trade in the offseason? Fact is, nobody knows what is going to happen this offseason. Not Verducci. Not ARod. Not Brian Cashman. Nobody. I don't think he's going to be traded but you can't rule out the possibility.

If the Yankees don't win it all and if A-Rod fails in the playoffs, I fully expect him to be on another team in 07. Hopefully that team is the Cubs. It's amazing how much heat the CURRENT AL MVP gets.

So on SportsCenter, John Kruk trashed A-Rod, telling him to quit talking and stop throwing the team under the bus. Uh, what about Jason Giambi basically slamming A-Rod to a member of the press? Gotta love how the Yankees rallied around Giambi when it became publicly known that roids made him a great player, but they've sold out a guy who is probably clean and is the defending AL MVP. Shut up Kruk you fat, worthless sack of crap. "You don't throw your teammates under the bus" - sounds like advice for A-Rod's teammates as much as A-Rod himself.

Now on Baseball Tonight, Tino Martinez says he kept telling A-Rod last year to stop overthinking things, just swing the bat and not worry about what the fans and media were saying. Uh, Tino - he was the AL MVP last season. He had his best-ever single-season OPS+. He really wasn't struggling, and I don't think he needed you telling him what to do and what not to do.

This is nothing more than an opportunistic pile-on for the spineless few. Ridiculous. How many times did Strawberry lapse while with the team? Gooden? They freakin' supported Knoblach and no one's said a word about Pavano. Unbelievable.

i like how giambi basically said that arod's clutch hits don't count

Yeah, what a complete jerkoff. Seriously, that article made me hate Giambi with a white hot passion. That sweaty, roided up, meathead should learn to shut his trap. I'm surprised Arod didn't pop that cheater in the mouth.

ahhahahahahahahaha, you can't even make this stuff up

Giambi this month: .163/.357/.233/.590

A-Rod this month: .345/.437/.707/1.144

Wow.

I bet most of that 1.144 came in the first three innings or when the game was already won or lost.

Why of course. Because we all know ARod's line in late in close games is something along the lines of .100/.150/.200/.350. The dude just can't hit in the clutch.

Are there steroids for the brain that we can give Giambi to make him smarter?

Take a look at the splits, TT. That was the most unclutch .345/.437/.707/1.144 you'll ever see.

the guy is going to hit .290 with 40 hrs and 120+ rbi

his team will have the best record in the american league and their pitching is suspect. but exactly what is arod's fault? they didn't win enough?

they have 2 starters in mussina and wang. rj is very up an down..heck did they not try out ponson? what does that tell you?

i know we can be tough on players but i think i'll live with veryone if we win 9 of 10 divisions like the yankees have not too mention be favorites for the ws championship...poor yankees

I really think what the Yankees are doing is disgusting.

They refuse to back up ARod, in fact most of them are willing to go after him.

Good teammate or not, the majority of them (probably led by Captain Jeter) are throwing him under the bus.

If I were him I'd seriously just go off on all the reporters and beg for a trade, or [expletive] it retire and then sign with someone else.

No one deserves to have their co-workers, boss, and a whole CITY ripping them 24 hours a day because they THINK he can't get a "big hit." Meanwhile Jeter gets a free pass for his error in game 6 in 2003 that sealed the victory for the Marlins, and his CRAPPY play against the Red Sox in 04 because he's Jeter.

Its gotten to the point where its disturbing to see someone treated like that day in and day out. What, because hes making money? He accepted what was OFFERED, no? Would you have said no to that kind of security?

I was watching when Kruk was on and thought either A) Kruk did not read the article or B) he is the dumbest person to ever be employed as an analyst. Then I realized that Kruk is probably to dumb to be able to read and both choices are right. I do not know the name of the guy that Kruk was talking to while on the "Hot Seat" but he seemed to be in disbelief by Kruks answer. He asked Kruk about the unnamed players that were being critical of Arod which just seemed to confuse Kruk and he just repeated his first answer.

Imagine how intellegent he would be if the Johnson fastball did hit him in the head. Yep, that little antic got him a nice job with ESPN.

If I recall correctly didn't ARod do everything but throw his teammates under the bus. When asked about conversations he had with Giambi, he said he can remember having the conversation, but can't remember what was said. Basically, protecting Giambi from sounding like a jerk. Also, he defended Jeter for not coming to his defense in the media. Maybe I'm forgetting part of the article, but I don't recall one quote, where ARod threw his teammates under the bus.

ARod needs to grow a pair and face down Giambi, Jeter, and the NY fans. He doesn't need to be friends with the other ladies in that clubhouse to do his job. He doesn't need to put stuff in the media (which he didn't, that was all Giambi and other "anonymous" sources). Rip them a new orifice in the clubhouse and continue raking on the field.

All the more reason that, barring a complete mental breakdown on his part, he's staying with the Yankees. They're getting the best 3B in the league for a decent price, and replacing that level of production would be difficult, even with Steinbrenner's pocketbook.

The Yankees don't make decisions based on finances, they base it on the level of Yankeeness and/or championships. It would be stupid, but I could easily see them dealing him, especially if they bomb out in the playoffs.
