That interview with Lee was tough to watch. My prayers go out to Derrek Lee's daughter. Definitely puts things into perspective for this crappy Cubs season.

is there any word on what they think is wrong with her??? this has to be scary for them....

I think the serious concern is that it's something to do with the brain. I'm hoping and praying it's not.

D Lee represents what a baseball player should be. It was hard to watch him all choked up like that. He and his family deserve the best... he's a class act. He asked for prayers, so if it's in ya to throw a few prayers D's way, it's the least us Cub fans can do! I know I will be.

Sudden loss of vision like this can be a symptom (although not one of the more common ones) of sickle-cell anemia, which, coincidentally or not, has a relatively high rate of occurence in African American children.

I hope this doesn't wind up being the case, but if it is, she'll ultimately need a bone-marrow transplant.

I suppose this is just speculation until we hear more. My thoughts are with Derrek and his family. :(

Prayer is very powerful. So I will do so. Let's get some positive energy flowing the Lee's way everyone.

Seconded, I saw the clip of his news conference, it was heart breaking to say the least. Best Wishes Jada, Derrek and Family...

Lets keep it up Cub fans. DLee and his family need us. Lets keep this thread going as long as it takes, that way we all keep in mind all of the important things in life. I have 3 daughters myself. I couldn"t even image. We are all praying for you Jada, DLee and family.

Once a day I try to take a minute to pray, and send a little positive energy their way. That's all I ask you guys try to do aswell.

Cards fan who has hated the Cubs all my life here to offer my thoughts and prayers.

Despite the trash talk that went back and forth between Cards and Cubs fans last year in the MVP debate, this is much bigger than baseball. Derrek Lee is one of the good guys, and it's heartbreaking to see such a classy individual having to watch his little girl in pain.

Here's hoping Jada gets well soon and Lee returns strong in 2007 for a renewed MVP race...

I heard today that Derrek said that if this is a life-threatening condition and his daughter is sick for an extended period of time he will retire and spend all of his time with his family. I trully hope this is not the case, but if it is he would be making the right decision. Family is the most important thing in the world. If you have enough money to allow you to take that time off you should. My prayers are with the Lee family.

As a Cubs fan I would hate for that to happen. But as a human being, I think he would be making the obviously right choice. Life before baseball always.

Another thing this could be a symptom of is a cutoff of blood flow in one of the major arteries that feeds the brain. Not good.

Best wishes to the Lees.

Any updates on Jada? I haven't heard anything for a couple of days.

I heard Ron say last night that he hadn't heard anything new and that DLee has been kind of invisible over the last few days.
