The Cubs will need to finish at least 7-12 over the last 19 games to avoid 100 losses.

After the Atlanta series, the rest of the schedule is:

LA Dodgers (3)

Cincinatti (3)

at Philadelphia (3)

at Cincinatti (4)

Milwaukee (2)

Colorado (3)

I can't see the Cubs winning 7 more games.

There will be no way for Hendry to spin this one in the off-season.

Instead, we'll just get platitudes: "Last year was unacceptable...we know we need to get better...yada, yada, yada".

but Hendry can spin ANYTHING

I look forward to this kind of statement

"Last year we were riddled with injuries. You can't prevent that (even though you can), so we obviously couldn't do much because we were always using our backups and guys from the minors (even though it is possible do win if you have good depth and a good minor league system)."

You forgot:

"Pass the gravy."

But that statement will either be proceeded by or immediately followed by:

"We're not gonna make excuses."

Seriously can you see anybody but Rich Hill winning more than 2 games the rest of the way?
Possibly Mateo; he's had some very good starts. He certainly pitched well enough to win today.

The one positive to take away from this is that, barring a horrible miracle, Dusty will not win enough games to keep his job. We did have a nice stretch about a month ago where people were still cooking up half-baked ways to get to the playoffs, or at least a .500 record. Aint none of that happening now.

I believe they can get to 100 loses...I'm hoping for 104 to set a record! Thank god the bears started.

Are you serial? Buffet Boy has already got the contract extension drawn up!

Sadly, I don't doubt he has. Thankfully, I think the pressure will be too much on him to offer it to Captain Toothpick.

And I suppose you should know... I am super-dooper serial.

Thank god the bears dominated the fudgepackers and Favre on their way to 13-3 and their first SuperBowl in 21 years

Fixed your post.
