Mizzou wins 34-7! Great win.

Most definitely. I was really surprised/impressed at how one-sided the game was, especially when Ole Miss had the ball. They didn't crack 100 total yards until the 4th quarter, and their only TD came after Mizzou fumbled away a punt and gave them a short field.

I wish Pinkel would get Woods off of punt return. Last week he was calling fair catch when he had running room, and this week he wouldn't call it and was getting drilled, and cost us the shutout. I like that guy who was doing it at the end of the game, #13 I believe.

Pig Brown, he had a decent return, then took one to the house that got called back. Although, to be fair, Brown had much better blocking on his returns, in the first half Ole Miss's gunners were getting right to Woods every time.

The only thing that bothered me about today's game was Chase Daniel inside the red zone. It seemed like he was trying too hard to sneak a pass into the end zone instead of just taking off running, or throwing it away. A good team will pick those passes off.

I said the exact same thing during the game. I thought he should've at least rolled out some to try and open up some receivers. That's something that will come with experience though.

Northwestern is now down 34-17 to New Hampshire

I don't understand how they hold Miami Ohio to 3 points last week and then allow 34 against a I-AA team.

New Hampshire is one of the best I-AA teams around.

Thats my former college there! Santos (QB) and Ball (WR) could be third team all americans in D1A IMO

Brady Quinn is not looking very sharp today.

Still think so?

19-27, 230 yards, 2 TD in the first half

and he has 23 yards rushing

As a Bears fan I can only hope Rex can be as "not sharp," as Brady was in the first half, in the entire game tomorrow.

Not anymore. But when I wrote that it was 6-0 and his stats weren't very good at that point.

I can't even begin to describe how disgusted I am right now. Not only were they outplayed, but they were completely outsmarted (Northwestern played a really, really stupid game).

I have NO idea what Fitz was thinking when he decided to go for it on 4th and 8 with 8 minutes left and one timeout when they're down 17. It would have been a 40 yard FG with the wind at Howells' back. Instead, they go for it and effectively end their chances at coming back.

May I ask why McGee virtually abandoned the spread offense after three straight possessions in which they were basically moving the ball at will? There was almost no spread in the entire second quarter. It was all 1 FB/1 TE or 2 TE. And it didn't work. I really did not get that at all.

And Kafka...whenever they tried to stretch the ball down the field, he had guys (not a guy, guys) wide open all day. It was really disappointing that he couldn't hit them. He had some for 6, too. It really wasn't pretty.

Someone needs to tell Hamlett to look at the flags next time. When there's a stiff wind at your back, move up a few yards.

Oh, and the team desperately needs Heinz back out there. NH kept the ball away from Cole all game (except late on a pass across that field that if Cole saw better, and he was in position, he would have had a pick 6) and the rest of the secondary could not stop a passing attack that is virutally identical to ours.

Even if you take away both of NH's easy TDs on turnovers inside NU's own 15, the defense was horrible. They couldn't adjust and only looked better in the second half because of NH's conservative play calling with the lead. They would have been able to keep in on the ground instead of having Kafka air it out, but yeesh.

PSU making way too many mistakes on the road today. This could be a blow out by game's end. The secondary is getting shredded. Tony Hunt is having a helluva game for the Lions, but to no great effect so far.

It's looking like that's where the game is headed.

I also have no idea why Northwestern was caught off guard when UNH came out with a no huddle offense in the first quarter when every scouting report I've heard about UNH talks about how they like to goto the no huddle

I don't know that they were. NH just made Cole a non-factor and took advantage of the young and bad defensive backs. It also didn't help that they had absolutely no pass rush going.

I know they practiced against the no-huddle since the offense has run it time to time. But like I said, that was a virtually identical offense to NU's. They just couldn't stop anything. It was probably more due to the personell and not the coaching.

Of course, I heard that NU had 10 players on defense on two consecutive plays at one point...

Early in this season, the Big Ten is not looking very strong, especially defensively. Michigan State and Illinois' defenses have been pretty bad so far and apparently Purdue doesn't bother to field one.

Wow. Syracuse ties it up with :06 left on a FG that bounced 3 times on its way from the snapper to the holder. OT.

And Syracuse's uniforms are horribly ugly. Orange helmet with dark blue numbers, dark blue jersey with orange UCLA-style stripes and solid orange numbers, and orange pants with two dark blue stripes down the side. Those better be throwbacks. Would it have killed them to put in a little white?

The Syracuse receiver drops an easy TD pass that hit him in the numbers on 3rd and goal to open up OT. 13-10 Syracuse.

Alright, maybe I'm a tad pissed because Penn State just got their teeth kicked in, but....

I lost some respect for Charlie Weis today. I haven't seen more blatant "running up the score" play calling in the second half in years. Fake punt? Going for it on 4th down (more than once)? Continuing to call pass plays with Quinn? C'mon. I know, it's not his fault that the poll system seemingly rewards teams for blowouts (and, in his case this past week, penalizes them for close games), but it seemed in poor taste to me.

Am I crazy for seeing it this way? Did anyone else find the fakes and 4th down attempts to be unsportsmanlike?
