Mabry + Bynum for the 2 open spots on the roster? If MLB makes us get something in return it can be "PTBNL or Cash" and we'll take $2 back. Edited by CubsInNC

how about the dodgers take on mabry's salary and we'll take back, oh i don't know, a clubhouse manager or something...maybe Tom Emanski's Defensive Drills instructional video, endorsed by none other than the great Fred McGriff?

Why would anyone want John Maybe?

He brings no value to a club. You are better off taking a

young player and grooming him at the utility role IMO.

When D. Lee went down Murton should have begun taking reps at 1B and

Restovich should have been called up from AAA.

Cause he's a lefty that can come off the bench and hit a home run. And playoff teams want that.

Get rid of him. There's no point in keeping him.

His power numbers are pretty bad this season.

Nice guy, but he shouldn't be in the majors anymore IMO.

Can't forget that some teams may view his extra horrid season to be because of playing for the Chicago Cubs, lol. So they may think he has a month long tear in him, heh.

TRADE! TRADE! TRADE!

Furcal or Garciaparra for Mabry

Where would Nomar play? Dont even say SS. Only position I feel he could stay healthy is at 1b. Cubs already have D-Lee. Dont say the outfield either. Specially considering he has a history of leg injuries.

I agree, but he's hit for power in the past. Teams like that, as is evident by the Dodgers' interest.

He hits pretty well with RISP (this season too, IIRC), which is good for a PH.

As a PH he's hitting .206 7 for 34

I cited BA w/ RISP, not BA.

Mabes is hitting:

w/ RISP: .293/.380/.488/.868 (41 AB)

w/ RISP & 2 outs: .350/.480/.750/1.230 (20 AB)

I know what you cited, but you said that BA w/RISP would make him a good PH. But it hasn't this year, shown by the BA when he's a PH. I was not arguing your RISP stats...I was arguing that they don't tell you anything about his pinch hitting ability.

How about we give them Mabry, under the condition that they also take Rusch and pay his salary? :D

It's whatever stat you or the organization thinks is pertinent with that small of a sample size. I guarantee you guys like Baker, Hendry, and the majority of scouts us BA with RISP to evaluate PH and offensive bench options.

I guess we could look at PH AB with RISP, but that would be about 5 AB a season.

* I don't agree with the practice of using BA w/ RISP to evaluate PH or offense, but a lot of the Hendry/Baker types do. That's the point. They're the ones setting the market, not you or me.

It will be a 3 way trade with Boston. We'll get David Wells. Him and Glendon will give Dusty 2 big lefties.

Someone tell Ned Colletti that James Loney is in fact a part of the Dodger organization.

Maybe the Cubs could "Steal" Loney away from the Dodgers. I mean....if the Padres are considering Kotteras for Wells, (I know Wells is a better pitcher, then Maybring nothing, but still) maybe the Dodgers are just as desparate.
