FSU won't be the superpower it once was until they can Bowden's son as the offensive coordinator.

That offense has struggled for a while now as has Miami's.

And even after the game last night, I'm still pondering what this game means for FSU football.

Does it mean they've finally found a way to adjust when behind? Or does it mean that we're still looking at an inept offense?

All I really know is that the D is fast, and the LB's can hit!

But the schedule sets up nicely (only 4 road games; 5 if FSU makes the ACC championship game) for a run. There is no dominant team out there this year, so we'll just sit back and see what happens.

I predict Auburn will be in the NC game, just not sure against who.

After watching some games this weekend I really dont like the rule where they start the clock after a change of possession once the ball is set. There is already not enough game and way too many comercials. I wish they would find another way to speed the game up.

Both defenses are incredibly quick. The ACC is pretty average this year and if Pitt can crush Virginia like that (BE 2-1 against your conference :D) I think it'll be wide open like you say. I'm not sure there is a dominate team out there and a weak schedule may have too much of a part of the National Championship.

I would very much like to agree with you. However, I'm neither enamored with Brandon Cox nor with Auburn's secondary. I predict they will lose to LSU in week 3. If they do win that game and don't sustain huge injuries, then I believe they have a very good chance of playing in the championship game.

FSU pretty much illustrated my greatest fears about PSU this year. Good defense, decent passing game, but an O-Line that won't allow the team to run, leading to short possessions and low scoring games.

That said, I'm glad Miami lost. They are my least favorite college team ever.

FSU's spread offense sucks running against fast defenses. When you only have 5 blockers its hard to set up the run. They dont know how to play smash mouth football or run 'at' people. Its all misdirection, counter, run out of the shotgun, pass sets up the run mumble jumble.

Their offense has gone downhill since that one guy left for NC State.

right, it's a different style, but my point is that if Penn State can't establish the run, ND will be able to sit back in a Nickel package and put their effort towards shutting down the pass

I may be wrong, because I did not watch all of the game, but didn't PSU have a real tough time with the run against Akron? If so is it due to the all new OL?

Ok i see where you are coming from. I just looked at they did pretty terribly against akron running. 80 yards total and 42 were on one run.

yes, only one returning starter from last year (Levi Brown). The PSU/Akron game was in pouring rain, so I'll be interested to see if that had some affect on the running game or not. Also interested to see this new 3-4 defense (I was in Europe for the Akron game). So unlike JoePa!

Wasn't it a bit of a modified 3-4 though? I thought a LB lined up on the line, and would just drop into coverage, or rush. Also it may be raining in SB this weekend.

Yeah, I think since Richt (?) left. Bowden's son would have been canned long ago if his dad wasn't an icon.

Corso says a lot of stupid stuff, but I don't get the outrage over saying SC won't win a conference title. They're stuck in the same division as Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.

In his first season at USC, he beat Tennessee and Florida and was a missed extra point away from a tie game against Georgia. This with inferior talent left over from the Holtz era. Competing against those teams year in and year out will is difficult to be sure, but we're already competing with them and we're only in year 1+ of the Spurrier era.
