BOX

ASU once again has more trouble early than they rightly should against NAU. They got it together and score 21 in the 4th make it look more respectable than last year. Once again the secondary couldn't stop an armless QB from lighting them up downfield.

Murietta or whatever his name is threw for 273 on 17-22 with 2td's and 1int. Fantastic. What's going to happen against Oregon, USC, Cal, UCLA, or AU? Broken scoreboards, that's what.

On the bright side, Carpenter looked great, Burgess and the receivers looked great, the defense destroyed their running game (division 1-AA designation be damned), and the offense rushed for 154 on 4.5 per carry.

Basically, ASU looks a lot like they did last year. Well I don't really know how they look, I followed via ESPN game cast while watching the Cardinals game. Let me tell you they read a lot like last year's team on a box score though.

Which makes me happy.

I'm definitely going to come back on Friday this year so I can get to the kU game, but I'm definitely greatful that I won't have to go to Lawrence again since I'll be at home next year.

Don't bother going to Manhattan for a K-State game either. I did that a couple years ago, and man that place sucks. The stadium is pretty lame, you can't drink in the parking lot, and the town in general pretty much blows.

You just reaffirmed what I always thought about Manhattan, Kansas.

I'm hoping Iowa takes Montana behind the woodshed since I have 3 Hawkeye entities (Albert Young, Chandler and Iowa D) on my Big Ten fantasy team. Most likely, Young and Chandler won't play the whole game, but hopefully they'll light up Montana's D when they're on the field.

By the way, nobody seems to know who Albert Young is. Are Iowa fans and myself the only people who know he ran for over 1300 yards last year?

Kafka did well for his first game and Jordan had a nice return. Sutton wasn't 100% and didn't get many carries, but still averaged 5 yards a carry or so. He also caught a 19-yard TD pass. If they use him to run some routes from time to time, that should help spread out the LBers and give Kafka more room to run. They missed Kim Thompson, though. Bacher may or may not have a fractured leg. Brewer will probably see time in the slot come Big Ten season.

The defense did pretty well. Cole didn't have a great game, but the 3-4 and 3-3-5 worked well.

Go Georgia Tech!

Go Memphis Tigers. Where are you OleMiss!? Olemiss is going down.

I am worried about the GT game. I think ND can dominate on both sides of the ball, but I have learned not to get my hopes up. Much like with the Cubs.

I also think that ND's D will suprise a lot of people this year.

I'm hoping for 4 or 5 wins this year.

For which school, Davis?

Illinois. No idea what to expect for the aggies - except that their stadium is smaller than my high schools. hopefully they removed the bees.

I also think this. Particularly, I think the secondary is going to be much much better than anyone's going to give them credit for due to last year's Fiesta Bowl debacle.

Many of the returning starters all attended speed clinics over the summer. I am not too sure how those work, but apparently a few of the guys have shaved some time off their 40s.

Plus Minter is in the booth now during games, instead of on the field.

Hopefully TT's move to LB will pay off as well.

Well, based on the fact that the team has had 36 straight winning seasons in football, I would guess at least 6-5. After that I'm not really sure. We will have a new stadium for next year. It was supposed to be ready for this year but the university came up with some BS excuses and it won't be completed until the beginning of 2007. I think it will start off with 15000ish seats and has the potential to be expanded to 30000.

where?

Southwest corner of the Hutchison and LaRue intersection. It's on the southwest part of campus as well near the ARC/Pavilion and new parking structure.

I think it'd be a PR travesty if they didn't schedule OU for a night game. They already screwed up by schedule Kansas at 11 am, the Saturday during Thanksgiving break.

I gotta think that they scheduled the kU game so early cause they didn't want to give fans a longer time to tailgate (i.e. get wasted). Not that 11 doesn't give you enough time to get plenty of beers in you.

They did it so they could be on National TV.

Yeah, that might have been another reason. But it's not like 11AM games are the only ones that are televised.

kU wasn't originally supposed to be Thanksgiving weekend though. They moved it there for the TV, so they're going to accomodate ABC with the time too.

EDIT: Link

Same thing next year too, although obviously the time isn't set.

Also, they probably wanted to protect as many Mizzou students as possible from witnessing a fourth straight border loss and the jayhawk fans carrying off the goalposts.

The kU students will tear down the goalposts at Mizzou? Anyways, the streak ends this year!

I think we did it two years ago at Mizzou.

Georgia's first TD of the season was taken away-their punt returner returned the punt 66 yards, started to celebrate a little bit early, and threw the ball when he was on the 2 yard line-by the time he touched it again, he was standing out of bounds out of the back of the end zone-and on replay it was ruled a touchback for Western Kentucky. Now that's humiliating.

Of course he redeems himself just one minute later by returning the next punt for a TD.

Michigan is looking just like they did last year. Only up 10-7 against Vandy in the 2nd quarter. I can't believe Carr still coaches this team. :x

Bold move by the Jayhawks.
