Hill doesn't even look like the same pitcher anymore. He's filthy.

Hill and Zambrano make a nice two-fifths of the rotation for next season. If we could sign Schmidt to go along with Prior and whoever wins out for the fifht spot, I think our pitching will be ok.

Hell I agree. Man it seems like EVERY hitter he's pounding a fast ball right on the outside edge for strike one, looping tons of curves right in there for a strike. And he gets ALOT of 0-2. He's been pictching aggressively and he looks downright dominant out there, and it's a joy to watch.

"Rich hill, "transacted" into a #2"

I'm sorry you can delete this. Or move this to social. Please forgive me. I'm just really happy about Hills progression.

But knowing what I know about behaivor, I'd say it was quite a bit. Dusty and Hendry both basically said, "It's time to put out and produce or you won't get another shot" the last time he came back.

I would hope not. That's about the best way to make a guy pitch like crap.

No, the best way is to leave a rookie out there to throw 120 high-leverage pitches. That next start is always brutal...

If he starts working in a decent change and/or cutter more often and he'll be a very legit #2.

A lot of ppl are eating crow over AAAA Hill, that's for sure.

I won't eat crow yet. Really close though. He's earned a spot in next year's rotation, very litle doubt about that.

I've got my crow marinading right now.

If only Prior could return to form, we'd have an awesome 3 starters even before the offseason begins.

Don't let yourself think this is possible. You will only end up disappointed.

Hill get's Bobby Cox' endorsement.

"He's tough," Atlanta manager Bobby Cox said of Hill. "He's going to be a real good one. He's a good guy to have in your rotation, that's for sure."

LOL. First I thought the text ad program was just random. But Cubs always comes up as a hair loss advert. Now Bobby Cox comes up as hair loss too.

Hill is really putting it together, he looks great out there every outing. Shoot, since August 1st he's been the best pitcher on the team, and by a comfortable margin.

I still like Marmol long-term an awful lot, and I agree with others--the Cubs MUST, no matter the $$, get a bona-fide 1/2 veteran starter this offseason. If they do...

Zambrano, Zito (say), Hill, Marmol or Marshall or Mateo, Prior or a veteran 4/5 starter (eg, Lilly or Suppan or Redman).

That would be sweet, particularly if Wood is healthy enough to be a late inning reliever for us. Move Dempster to middle relief/setup, and we are looking pretty good in the pitching department.

Kudos also to David Aardsma, who like Hill, seems to be figuring it out this time around in the majors. Maybe he'll stick this time.

A rotation of Zambrano/Zito/Prior/Hill/Mateo would be pretty sweet assuming Hill keeps it all together and Prior remains reasonably healthy (big assumption, I know). Our offense wouldn't even have to be that good, but it wouldn't hurt to add some run support.

It's much easier to fix our rotation than our offense for next season. That where I think we should spend most of our money this offseason.

trade him.

we dont need his kind around here!!

I agree his being here every five days is gonna possibly cost us the first pick. Rich hasproved his point, he should be traded away as he is ready for the big leagues.

I like what Hill is doing, and have liked him for quite a while. But I sure as heck won't be penciling him in to carry over his recent 9 game stretch into all of 2007. I'd try and build the rotation so that he's the 5th starter, or at least counted on to do no more than what a 5th starter might do.

after opening day, whoever is pitching is the #1 starter imo. other than maybe skipping a guy in april due to the off day's scheduled, i dont see much point in labeling starters 1-5 (except to order who follows whom in the rotation).

The point is to get 4 guys better than him, not to actually label him with a number. If we're calling Hill the 3, that means the team will have only 2 pitchers who will project to have better seasons than Hill. And that would be a terrible mistake.
