Guess who's leading off for the Tigers tonight?

Yes, I'm serious.

Well, that kills any interest I might have had in Leyland.

Check out the Tigers offensive stats for this year. This has been a very lucky team and Leyland is getting a lot of undeserved credit, imo.

Guess OBP doesn't mean much to Leyland either, where in the world did Baker and Leyland get the idea that Perez is a top of the order guy?

The Tigers success is due largely to their pitching, having watched quite a few of their games I've noticed offensively, they're just as aggressive as the Cubs. In fact their team OBP is in the lower half of all of Baseball yet, they're 10th in RS, for whatever reason, the BA with RISP has taken a huge spike this year. Time and time again some one comes up with the big hit that, elusive clutch hitting.

Neifi was moved to the bottom of the order tonight and the Tigers lost. Coincidence? I think not.

It's tough to be a savior from the 8 hole. Poor Neifi.

Neifi's 1-4, 1 LOB couldn't save the Tigers last night in their 7-5 loss.

Neifi is now batting .167 with Detroit.

Tigers: 2-1 in the Neifi era

Cubs: 0-4

still getting over the shock I guess.

He led off again tonight.

Tigers lost.

He is 2-20 with a .100 batting avg. Tigers are 2-4 with his presence in the lineup. I wonder how long Leyland will keep starting him? Maybe when they lose the division lead he might realize that Nefi is washed up!

I took great pleasure in booing him tonight! :D

A funny moment happened in the top of the second. Inge and Infante were on first and third, Neifi was at the plate with one out. I bet my friend (a Tigers fan) $5 that Neifi would hit into a double play. He accepted it.

N Perez lined into double play, to third, O Infante doubled off third. 2 0

I won.

He is starting again tonight batting eighth. The more he starts him, the more I lose respect for Leyland. I wonder why they didn't bring someone up from their farm system. How much worse could they do?

They could have Ronnie Cedeno starting for them. :x This year Cedeno proved all of those that said "someone from the farm system" couldn't do any worse wrong.

Neifi wasn't much better than Cedeno. And Cedeno is young and could have adjusted from the beginning of the year. There was no reason not to start him, and there still isn't since it's a lost season.

I agree with you, but a team CAN do worse than Neifi at SS and the Cubs are proof of that. I also get tired of the "a minor leaguer could have done better" agrument.

The Curse Of The Neifi -- no organization willing to sign him can ever enter the post-season -- continues as the Tigers lose yet again. Rats.

Forgive me if this was previously posted and I missed it, but I saw this gem on Rotoworld:

Neifi Perez, 2B: Neifi, one of the worst hitters in decades, was acquired to play second base and make outs for Detroit. Even Jim Leyland shouldn 19t have the guts to bat him at the top of the lineup consistently, but if he does AL-only players should take a look. Anyone 19s capable of a hot month. AL: $4, Mixed: No.

You will now put me in the clean-up role.

You just made my day.

This is avatar worthy. Would you mind?

How has Neifurious been doing lately?

WHo knows, he hasn't started in 3 days. It only took Detroit a couple of weeks to know that Neifi should not start and the Cubs still put this guy out there day after day. Bad GM move by Detroit to pick this guy up.
