word was that MWL put these days in as rainout buffers. We don't have anything to make up, thus 2 whole days off. Jody's going to be singing the 7th Inning Stretch at wrigley on Tues, so I'm gonna have to set the TiVo on that one.

Not the way it works. The league has tried this three years in a row with back to back off days to let teams get ready for the playoffs. NO teams make up games on mutual offdays. You either make them up as a DH when you play that team again or you lose the game. All teams will have two days off which is nice. I know we are using it to set the rotation up for the playoffs. The 2007 schedule does not include back to back off days in August. Instead they are back to back at the MLB All-Star game like they were in the MWL in 2002 and 2003.

Veal's 2nd.

K swinging.

Walk.

Pop out.

Double scoring the walk. Runner advances to 3rd on throwing error.

After 1 1/2, it's tied at 1.

1) Dopirak is back in Jackson; he had his foot surgery and it has been deemed successful. No target return right now.

2) Jake Fox is in RF for the DJaxx.

3) Today is Chris Shaver's 25th birthday!

4) As posted in another thread here, Gallagher's x-ray results came back with a severe bone contusion on his foot. Sounds like he's 'day-to-day' but he says he won't miss a start.

3-1 Daytona through 3-and-a-half. Alan Rick (DH tonight) with a 2-R HR.

Now 5-1 Daytona as Jupiter pitcher Timothy Wood is replaced in the 4th. Veal still mowing them down, 1R/ER, 4K/3BB, 2H through 4.

Posted

1-0 Huntsville, middle 2. Shaver has thrown a ton of pitches -- ~46 or so -- in the first 2 IPs as he went to full counts on the first several batters.

Still 5-1 Daytona through 5.

Jaxx win 4-2!

Iowa also won, 7-3. Soto, Restovich, and Deardorff each homered. Pie was 0/5. EPatt had another good night going 2/3 with a double and an RBI. Williams actually had a good start going 6 1/3, giving up 9 hits, 3 ER's, walked none, and struck out 1.

Bold Prediction: Billek gets shelled tonight

WRONG! (I'm shocked too.)

5 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 1 IBB, 0 K. Easily his second best start of the season between Daytona, Peoria and Boise (behind his 7/10 start with Boise - 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 5 K).

Boise up 5-1 after 6. Tyler Colvin is 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Carolina did their part and beat Tennessee tonight. The Jaxx are now within 3 games of 1st place (despite being in 4th); they've won 3 in a row, whereas Tennessee has lost 4 in a row.
