On the second question, *maybe*, but a Ghana win against Portugal and a US loss to Germany would leave us counting goal differential and hoping for the best, and probably a meltdown among US sports fans demanding that H2H be the first tiebreaker.

We're boned with a tie/loss plus a Ghana win. We're +1 right now so best case scenario is a 0 GD. Ghana is at -1 so with a win, the worst case is a 0 GD. To win, Ghana would obviously have to score, so they'll have at least 4 goals. We've got 2 right now. So unless we get a high scoring draw vs. Portugal and/or loss vs. Germany, we're not winning a tie with Ghana.
