Bayern have had 81% of the possession and 9 shots, but only two on goal and are down 1-0 at half.

And Bayern now have had 11 corners at the 54th minute.

Chelsea are honestly [expletive] terrible to watch. It's like watching a bunch of kids in blue shirts play Red Rover and just line up at the 18 yard box. [expletive] anti-football.

Chelsea have dominated the top teams this year. If they don't win, it's a reflection on their professionalism and Mourinho's ability to get his team up for teams like Sunderland.

Pretty much. 8 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws against the top 7 (including 4 wins over City and Liverpool) and 16-5-3 against the bottom 13. In the last month and a half, they lost at Villa and Palace as well as home to Sunderland while beating Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool by a combined 12-0.

Yeah, Chelsea has been better than Liverpool twice this year. No other team can say that; in fact, very few can say it even once.

I don't think I've ever seen a breakaway like that in futbol, where a defender slips and the play is essentially over right there.

It's always (somewhat) a looming danger for teams that play from the back. Though it's even more surprising considering that wasn't a defender, it was a skilled central midfield. As is not uncommon, in possession, Liverpool splits its central defenders and Gerrard (deep-lying playmaker) drops deep centrally to initiate attacks. Which means it's not uncommon for him to be in the middle of the field, with the ball, and no defenders behind him. It's something you trust him to do but that flukey slip (preceded by a less-than-ideal first touch) pretty much ended the play/game, as you said.

Yeah; it was the first touch that really was the problem; the slip seemed more the end result of him realizing that he just basically put Ba through on a breakaway.

Agreed. He slipped because he was already scrambling because of the poor first touch (or almost a whiffed first touch).

20 minutes in and this tie is over.

i'm on night shift and the bayern munich-real madrid match is on. was hoping for a good match; instead it's 2-0 within 20 minutes and bayern munich now need 4 goals to go through. boring. Edited by TruffleShuffle

Yeah, it's so boring that the HEAVY favorite who has lost at home like 1 time in the last millions years is about to be eliminated at home to a team that hasn't been able to live up to expectations in the Champions League for almost a decade.

UGGGGGHHHH SO BORING!

Embrace the narrative, guys! Madrid exorcising Champions League ghosts, Mourinho ghosts and Pep ghosts! Carlo Ancelotti doing what he couldn't do at Chelsea - topping Jose!

God soccer is incestuous.

So we'll get either a Madrid derby in the final or Jose against his former team. Hoping for the former.

With the final in Lisbon, I am expecting Christino to go off. From a US perspective, make him play as many games as possible before the WC starts (not that one extra will really burn him out any more 2 weeks before the WC starts).
