If he could develop into a 2 way midfielder it would solve a lot of problems for the Nats.

Maybe like a Michael Ballack circa 2002 type ceiling?

That would be great, especially if his dad sticks with the dual defensive mids.

I'm confident he'll develop a nice offensive game. In the U-20's he was arguably our best player along with Freddy and was always getting forward and into the action.

I didn't think he was that great in the U-20s until the later games. Certainly Szetela outshone him in the first couple of games. Since then, though, he has looked very, very good in every game I've seen him in.

Not much has stuck out for me with Bradley in some time, which makes me wonder what the difference in system is between the USMNT and his club side. He's clearly playing at a high level in the Erdevisie.

Personally, the twin defensive mid lineup needs to stop.

Trib[/url]"]The Fire confirmed that Juan Carlos Osorio has left the team to become the head coach of the New York Red Bulls. Because Osorio was under contract with the Fire for the 2008 season, the Fire will receive draft picks, salary cap allocation money, and cash.

Osorio leaves the Fire after just half a season with the team. The Colombian native took over for Dave Sarachan, who was let go in June, and led the Fire from the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings to the Eastern Conference championship.

Penalty kick for Liverpool in the third minute. A Marseille player took down Gerrard in the box.

Kick was originally saved but Gerrard put in the rebound.

Figured out that if Porto wins or ties Besiktas today, Liverpool has to win because if they tie, Marseille would advance with the first tiebreaker of most points taken in the matches between the two teams (Marseille 4, Liverpool 1). But if Porto loses and Liverpool ties then Liverpool would advance on goal differential in matches between the tied teams (Liverpool +2, Marseille 0, Porto -2).

Yeah but I dont think that Besiktas will win at Porto today so they need a win. They are off to a great start so far they are dominating this game.

And that should just about do it. 3-0 Liverpool.

Well Porto scores again to make it 2-0. Hopefully Liverpool can draw Sevilla or Chelsea as those are the 2 weakest group winners.

A team can't get matched up with another team from their same country in the Round of 16 or their same qualifying group. So Liverpool won't get matched up with Porto, Chelsea or Man United. So as of now they could face Real Madrid, AC Milan, Barcelona or Inter Milan. If Sevilla ends up winning Group H they'll be added to the list. So odds are it won't be an easy match in the Round of 16 for Liverpool.

don't look at my avatar when reading this...

chelsea might be "weak" now, but by the time the round of 16 rolls around, they should be much healthier and i'd put them against anybody left. drogba should sit out of the africa cup and rest his knee, if he's healthy chelsea can make a run at it.

That's not being a homer. That's a fact. Chelsea is going to go on a freaking shopping spree next month. I expect two quality strikers and some midfield and back line depth to be headed your way.

Lyon just took the lead over Rangers at Ibrox in the 16th minute. A win or a tie sends Rangers on and a loss sends Lyon on so Rangers has to push now. This should be entertaining and have a lot of offense.

Lyon just had a chance to clinch the game but a Rangers player cleared the ball off the line but not 30 seconds after a Rangers player sent the ball over the top from just inside the 6 yard box which would have tied the game. WOW.

EDIT: And a Lyon goal in the 85th minute will end this game.

US U-23's drew with China yesterday.

Most intriguing to me was Maurice Edu playing at center back.

That is a possibility that had not occured to me. I'd like to see how it works out. I'm also interested to see where Aston Villa is going to play him.

I like him a lot, but with the glut of defensive mids, there just isn't room for him in the middle what with little Bradley's surge. He is an intriguing center back prospect for sure.
