That was an obvious red - easy decision.

That was a borderline foul, not even close to a straight red. There were no less than a dozen worse tackles in this game that deserved cards.

Going in studs forward straight to the shin with no intention to play the ball and the ref six feet away? You have got te be kidding.

I guess I just don't get that part of soccer then -- why was that an obvious red? I know his foot has high, but was it really intentional?

Upon further review, he was pretty high and not going at the ball.

I know you guys hate Mexico (and then some) but that was an obvious red.

Notice the absence of reaction by the player - he knew he got caught.

Oh good, following John Arguello on Twitter also allows you to get his high quality soccer analysis.

Incidentally, this is exactly why GD is the first tiebreaker

Wouldn't matter in this situation anyway since they tied.

I have a great one of Tom Morello at the Cubs game last week, I need to get on top of that.

It's only four games but each team that played in Manaus has lost their next game. Cameroon and Croatia today plus England and Italy in their second games.

Jozy Altidore will miss the United States' World Cup game against Germany on Thursday because of his strained left hamstring.

I'm going to safely assume from the Mexican reaction yesterday in LA (flipping cars, etc) that this was the first time Mexico has advanced out of group play.

I thought this was a soccer game, not an olympic diving competition.

It took less than one minute after turning on the game to be reminded why I hate the Italian team so much.

Marchisio sent off for Italy. Get ready for some major bunkering by Italy the last 30 minutes.
